We had to let go

But within we found the courage

Motivated to try harder this time

Hello, I am preparing to quit smoking. I set my quit date for August 11.

It's a bit far out, but my partner (non-smoker) has a procedure on the 8th where he will be put under anesthesia, and I know I'll be extremely stressed until I know he's safe.

I have

Of all the abusive situations I’ve been in

This is my goodbye letter to cigarettes.

Of all the abusive relationships I’ve been embroiled in, you, American Spirit Black, have been the most one-sided. You take and take and take while giving me only momentary pleasure that comes at the most grave of

Not the most social person on here. EX still can help..

While I would not consider myself to be the most social user on here. I just wanted to let other non social, ex-smokers, dippers, chewers, vapors, etc know that the information on this site, will be of great help.  For me it's been 3 days without dipping.

You fall and get back up

I'm not sure what I'm doing. But here it goes.  I've been smoking since I was 12 and I would steal my aunts cigarettes and smoke up in a tree until I burnt down the tree.  It didn't stop there I went into military and they ust to say smoke them if you got

Re-posting a repost of an old Classic: I want you to stop trying to quit*

This is a repost from what I wrote March 12, 2009.  It still applies today.

I want you to stop trying to quit.

Yes, I said that. Even more, I mean it.

I browse around here and see post after post from people saying that they are "trying Chantix" or giving th

2 DAYS QUIT

Two days quit (this time, maybe for the 100th time?) and I'm feeling pretty good. This time instead of convincing myself that I hate smoking, I am admitting that I love to smoke -- that's what kept me going back all those other quit times -- but made a li

Today is the day!

Here I am day 1, patch on and still REALLY wanting to have a smoke.  Actually the craving might be more of missing out on a normal morning routine.

Last night, I went around and collected every ashtray in the house and washed them all and put them away.

Day Two

My quit date was set for January 30, 2023.  Yesterday.  It was only partially successful.

At work, I unexpectedly found a black and mild cigar in a coat pocket.  See, I got the message to get rid of all my smoking stuff, but I wasn't very thorough.  Deep d

"The days are dull, the nights are long. Guess I better say, Goodbye to you".

Under normal circumstances, in preparation for a snowfall, I'd be planning ahead with  5 or 6 packs of cigarettes to get me through a few days just in case we had another blizzard in Ohio like the one we had in "78".

That was around the time I started smo

Life After Tobacco

Here in northern California it’s been raining for weeks. I am grateful that I no longer huddle under an eave in the rain, sucking on moist paper and poisonous tobacco. I gave that up one year ago, after more than 30 years as a slave to it.

God knows I stil

Slip And Starting Back At Day One!

I slipped  So I'm starting over. As far as I'm concerned one puff is just as bad as one cigarette or one pack. Doesn't matter the reason. I slipped. I kicked myself in the pants and now I'm going to try again, even harder. I'm not giving up. I know what
