Physical and mental problems after quitting
If you don't want to see your mother-in-law, you can't blame that on quitting smoking! Seriously - an aversion to what? A food, a fragrance, a beverage? Here is a link to an article on early withdrawal symptoms which you might find helpful:Early Withdrawal Symptoms.
Let us know some more about you! What is your smoking history? Why do you want to quit? What was your quit date?
I'm glad you're here!
Welcome to EX, I am not sure I know what you are asking either, I can tell you that smells become stronger so if I smell a strong perfume that I didn't like before I quit, I HATE it now. I have COPD and COPD is progressive so even after I quit smoking, my shortness of breath got worse. Certainly, it would have progressed more quickly if I had kept smoking.
Don't forget to come back! We want to know how you're doing.j

forlove How are you doing? Are you feeling better? Are you dealing with the physical and mental issues you mentioned? We would love to help, let us know what we can do.
I am planning to quit AGAIN any day now. Quit quickly and successfully for over a year without cravings but i acquired an aversion to ivy growing up buildings which is everywhere. It just makes me cringe. So i started back. It did get a little better. I really want to quit now but am so afraid of this aversion getting worse again. Hanging in limbo now but i know i have to quit.
Thanks for your questions and comnents
forlove Does the ivy cause a physical reaction? I am not familiar with that. My breathing did get worse after I quit smoking but it was my COPD progressing, quitting SLOWED the progression. I am certain that I would not be here if I kept smoking.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help. Do the reading, prepare a "quit kit", plan for what to do INSTEAD of smoking if you feel a crave. You CAN do this!
That ivy things sounds serious to me. Have you ever seen a psychologist? Wishing you well.
Yep but he had no answer just said it would go away. Other wise i feel fine. Just get yucks when i see it. Thanks for your concern
I began to have an aversion to coffee it just didn't taste right to me anymore and I had always loved it ! I kept on drinking it in the morning anyway but eventually I thought why the heck drink it I really don't like it anymore now I drink a cup of green tea in the morning !
I don't understand the aversion to the ivy is this something entirely new to you and have you had strong aversions to things in the past not related to quitting ?
