Thank you elvan! I’m hoping to get hubs in this group soon! He’s planning to quit in 7 days! I didn’t find the group until after I quit, but I recommend it to anyone that I know wants to quit! I’ve learned so much Nd i, for one, need the community and communication! You are an inspiration! 5 1/2 years! Whoo hoo!
NanKath There are lots of people here with more time than I have and I didn't start coming to the site until I had been quit for about ten days, I think. It's a vibrant and supportive community filled with understanding and loving members.
Hope your husband DOES come here and that you keep on referring people to this site. I talked about EX ALL the time when I first quit, it became my new addiction...good news is that it did not damage my lungs.

Hi and Welcome to Ex’s FusingCypress
I can only tell you what worked for me...and you can take all our advices and put it in your own quit plan...please read at My EX Plan | BecomeAnEX where you will make a quit date and plan for that day like no other...You will learn about your triggers and craves and how you can replace them with healthier things then smoke. /blogs/Youngatheart.7.4.12-blog/2013/02/25/100-things-to-do-instead-of-smoke?sr=search&searchId=56a0... I made my quit my top priority in life...because I wanted it so bad ... I found coming here and getting support daily helped me ... also, encouraging others on this journey greatly helps too...You need to talk to yourself constantly that you really don’t need to smoke to get through life...to learn we believed all the lies of addiction...once you get past that point and deal with life on life’s terms...smoking has no use...You can do this, You are so Worth it...Happy Saturday ~ Colleen 299 DOF
All of this support and educating material is awesome and I'm very fortuitous to have found this site. Just to know that someone has your back is a big help. I didnt have that in the past, in fact, I pretty much had the opposite. When all of my other plans aren't working to its fullest I just hop on this site. Thank you!
Ex has more than your back, it has a deep reservoir of experience as to how to think smoberly, how to stop making cigarettes an option. You can do this one day at a time.
I used the mantra NOPE, Not One Puff Ever when I came here over 5 1/2 years ago and I said it over and over again...softly, loudly, silently. It really helped me. I had many unsuccessful quits but this one is different because I got so sick that I finally accepted the fact that I CAN'T smoke and that I should have accepted that years ago, before I did all kinds of damage to my lungs. I came here every morning and every evening, I read anything that was advised, I read blogs until I was so filled with the experiences of others that I knew I could call on them at any time. Education, support, and commitment to your quit will get you through. No smoking, NO MATTER WHAT! I tracked cigarettes and identified my triggers and when they were most likely to occur and then what I could do INSTEAD of smoking. It really helped me when I quit. I had wanted to quit for a long time, I hated smoking and everything about it. I have never regretted quitting but I will always regret starting.
You have gotten lots of great advice, stay close.
Welcome to EX,
Ellen
