the stress is in great part CAUSED BY your body wanting nicotine. When it's ready for more you get stressed.

Nicotine is out of your body 72 hours after you stop ingesting it.

The first 2-3 weeks are uncomfortable.

The following link explains the process and gives a timeline.

There was lots of good advise and tips on your blog from 2 days ago.  Perhaps re-read some of those comments - and click on the links and read!  Also the link that jonescarp gave you in the above comment is a very good read.  The more you know and understand about this addiction, the less stressful it will be, in my opinion.

Take slow, deep breaths, going slower and deeper with each one. You might practice doing this when you AREN'T stressed so you can call it up easily when you are.  It is a proven stress buster - and you can do it anywhere, anytime.  If you are in a place where you can, raise your arms out in front of you with each inhale and slowly lower them with each exhale.  If stressful thoughts try to bust through your concentration on your breathing, acknowledge them and send them away.

Exercise is the BEST way to get rid of accumulated stress.  Go for a walk, march in place, do a few jumping jacks, sit/stand 20 times, go up and down a set of stairs several times.  Anything that gets your heart rate up will help!

Hi ,, Just keep in mind there that them urges can play trich on you & trick are for kids, try not to think of smoking , do something to distract your mind , walking is a great way to relieve stress , when i came here 5 yrs ago my friend george said yoga , it worked 🙂  drink water & do deep breathing exercies.  if you go to the gym , then go do a hard work out & train your brain to think more positive. We all thought smoking for stress is what we NEEDED but we never needed its they way we thought , now get rid of that thought and tell yourself, just for today i wi;l not smoke , say it everyday 10000 times if nessasary , tell yourself you are strong then you give yourself credit for  🙂  key word here ..two words!!! stay busy . distract yourself & go walking with a smile on your face . its ok to feel sorry for your self for a tiny bit then get over it & move on, you will see in due time everything will fall in place with out you trying , bc now you changed a horrible habit for a great habit 🙂 you got this !

Here's a quick crave buster for stress:

A good exercise is 5,4,3,2,1

Take a long deep slow breath,

- name 5 things you see that are blue,

- name 4 things that you hear,

- name 3 things you feel (touch),

- name 2 things you taste,

- name 1 thing you smell.

Breathe deeply once more.

Move on!

All the above advice is great. I am going to add SLEEP! I slept a lot because that was the  only way I would stop thinking about it. Sometimes I took sleep aids. I don't know if that's good/safe advice but that's what worked for me. Reading this site, Allen Carr book, sleeping, and eating a TON of licorice! Go get some now so you have it for tomorrow.
