Day three and smoke free. The gym is helping a bunch. I feel good. I know what I have to do and am doing it so far. Had a craving this morning (pretty big) so I hurried up and put on my patch. Hope everyone else is doing good.
Keep going Praeke...the gym will help you a LOT!!!....here are the coping methods to use for smoking thoughts......
Stay close to this site and remember NOPE=Not One Puff Ever...and as long as you stick to this ONE SIMPLE rule, you will win....it the meantime, drink plenty of fresh cold water to rid your body of the toxins,6 smaller, nutritious meals throughout the day to keep your blood-sugar levels steady, (don't diet!)......and it will keep your blood sugar level and the low blood sugar induced fogginess and craves away.
....take big arm STRETCHES as often as needed to relax tense muscles and most importantly, take big DEEP BREATHS TO RELAX AND RELIEVE anger... take a nap, take walks, stay buzy with something you LIKE and brush you teeth immediately after each meal...stick your head in the freezer and DEEP BREATHE....If you bite into a lemon, the smoking thought will be gone instantly...try it, it works, also suck on sugarfree hard candy or lollipops and one of my friends here says be sure to use the Halls mentholyptus cough drops......Be prepared in advance for it,not surprised by it...Smoking thoughts only have power when you have fear. Face it head on and do not try to run or hide. You have the strength and power to tell it NO...You have the CHOICE to tell it NO.
Yeah for 3 days!! I'm proud of you. I quit with the patch too and it and a great determination to never smoke again got me through 171 days. You can do it too!
WTg Preake! You made it thru the toughest days! Don't get me wrong there will be other moments until you learn how to deal w/ each and every trigger. It takes time and don't lose focus, that's when it's easy to slip up. I am on my 24th Day for the 3rd time,,but I am here to finish what I started so long ago. Never give up on yourself! You're worth every minute that you "think" you're suffering while quitting. You're worth way more!
If I didn't have the lake to walk around I would go crazy. The gym has always been a great outlet in my quit. Working out always seems to put my mind in a different zone. Keep up the momentum and we are behind you!
Thanks everyone for your support and kind words. I have used some of the suggestions and am doing really well with them. I like the biting into a lemon idea. Def. going to keep fresh lemons around. Gym is great and I am not putting any additonaly stress on myself or in my life. I am doing what I have to and putting myself first. Thanks again
