Yesterday was my quit day....kinda?

I told myself that I would qut smoking October 1st, yesterday.  I didn't have a pack of smokes but I managed to smoke a few butts from the ashtrays (pretty gross) around my house and them make it thorough the rest of the day without smoking.  When I came home last night I started to look around for websites to help me really kick the habit and I found this one. I registered and here we are.

So i guess my question is- do I reset my clock, as they say?  Push my quit date another week and do the suggested activites on this site or just stay quit as I am now.  I have not had a smoke since 2pm yesterday.

I just want it to stick this time!  I want ot give myself all the tools to kick this nasty habit once and for all.  Your suggestions and comment would be much appreciated!!!

I'd say reset it now because you are so new to this quit. It's better to be disciplined now than to get through a few months and have this happen again.

If you know the rules for success now, you will be sucessful so, learn, ask

Don't smoke and work the plan.  Maybe instead of tracking the cigarettes you smoke, track when you have a craving for one.  You've gone nearly 24hrs w/o one, see how much longer you can go!!  You're doing it right now!  GREAT JOB!!  Hang in there!

You already started a quit -- might as well continue.  Just reset the clock and work the program.  You might also want to visit www.whyquit.com and http://quitsmokingonline.com for additional help with your quit.  And you can post blogs here asking for help if you think you can't make it through a particularly bad craving.  You can do this -- you already are!

You have quit already.  why start again another day and go through those first 24 hours again?  Stick with it!  You are doing this!  Education is key!  In 48 hours most of the nicotine will be gone from your system.  Then it is all mental.  So you are already 1/3 of the way done! Keep going!  We are here to help you through this!

Yes that headache and several more physical symptoms can happen but the quit is different for each of us. Check out www.whyquit.com for very specific details on the physical and emotional effects of a quit. You can do this. Just like the first days of any new things, it can be scary if not just because its all new. Hang in there and arm yourself with the knowledge you need to defend your quit until it is strong and standing on its own!

I am there with you on wanting to quit. I also set yesterday as my quit date but I had half a pack still and did not have the strength yesterday to throw them out. I told myself I would start on Mon. I have one of those e-cig and some patches left. I am not sure I want to go with nicotine replacement or cold turkey. Good luck on your quit, i have been hanging around this web site and getting encouragement and it certainly makes me feel not alone in this journey to be smoke free!

I ran out of smokes on saturday morning at 8am.  I was really sck with a cold for the past 12 days whch then  turned into a sinus infectioin and a chronic cough in which I saw stars.   I called my doctor who was on call and she saw me in the office. I figured I would pick up a pack of smokes after seeng her, but let me tell you after I saw her I was too embarrassed and feeling worse than the grief  the cough was causng me.  She gave me an inhaler and scheduled me for a carotid ultrasound........I am not taking chances of being one of those old ladies wth an oxygen tank! My qut date was suppose to be back n August but that didnt pan out. Hopefully ths wll be it. After readng the blogs here it looks like this is a good place for support...................keep up the good work!
