Watching tv and very afraid of catching the virus that's out here.  But I know smoking willnot change a thing. Feeling sad, with so much going on in the world which I have no control of. I didn't want to mention my quit to family or friends, since I failed before.  So I'm just going to do it. They will notice because most of my family members donot smoke. I'm def going harder on this quit.

Looks like this is Day Two?  If you can, get some exercise, and limit your intake of news to once a day.  Looking/listening to it more often just increases anxiety over it all.  And there is not a THING you can control - EXCEPT your quit.  You have total control over that!

Take a walk?  March in place?  Do a few sets of stairs?  Dance to your favorite music?  Find an exercise video on YouTube.

Moving will definitely help you get through the day!

Let us know if we can help!

msmmm215, I ditto everything youngatheart said. Just don't smoke. MY family back in Ft Worth does not even know I ever started again from my 2010 quit date.  I started again little by little this last year ... July or August 2019.  Seriously, my last cigarette was March 12th, 2020.  Just do it!

No matter your circumstances. Eat junior mints or sours or kisses or tootsie pops (don't bite into them, just suck them}.  I like chewing on the tootsie pop stick for awhile. Stay hydrated. BLOG on this site!! It helps me.  Walk, walk, walk.

Thank you for being here.

Yes, there is much to be sad about in the world right now, but this can also be a part of the psychological withdrawal from quitting.  For some it's very emotional - feeling sad, crying for no reason, etc. I know it was for me.   Definitely get moving to refocus your thinking.   If you can't share your quit with other's, then continue to share it with us.  We're here to support you.

Nancy posted this article yesterday about what we're all feeling right now with the virus crisis.  .  Everyone has seemed to find it helpful.

If you have any yogurt, put your elbows in it.

Try not to slide.

don't tell anyone else.

When you won’t to focus on the virus...focus instead on being grateful...name all the things you are grateful for in life and the virus won’t seem so big.  Be sure not to watch too much news, because most is negative.  You are doing the best thing for you...Quitting...you may get the virus, but with not smoking, you can beat it and/or have a chance...You hang in there ... and find some fun things to do around the house and get your mind off of smoking and virus’s...Life is too short ... so try and be happy ... Gotcha in my thoughts ~Colleen 482 DOF

Oh I’m sorry you are struggling . Smoking won’t help the struggle , stress or anxiety .
The pandemic sucks ! No way around it . 2020 is going to go down as the year the world got their butts knocked down , but we are getting up every day and it IS going to get better .

Im a ridiculously anxious person by nature so if I even get a tickle in my throat I swear I have COVID 19 .

Here’s what helps : watch enough of the news to keep updated . That will take all of 8 mins . Then focus on good things like reading , journaling , growing a vegetable garden , going for a walk , cooking your favorite meal , binge watch some movies ( preferably not pandemic movies ) **** don’t ask **** lol

As far as your quit , doctors and scientists have been reporting the past few days , that current smokers have more non favorable outcomes if they do get COVID19 , and while you probably won’t get the virus , why even take the chance ??

I have had bad cravings lately, due to being worried , my county took very severe measures so I’ve been home bound totally for almost 3 weeks and haven’t seen a real living person , BUT , it’s finite .

Your cravings are finite . This virus is finite . Both will eventually go away .

hold onto that when things get hard ....this too , shall pass .

hugs
