Summer

Once again it is July, and in Minnesota it can get surprisingly warm. We are known for our freezing winters, and rightfully so, but during the summer it can hit 90 to 100 degrees here, and on rare occasion above 100. Anyway, since I quit smoking I haven't done much about trying to take off the weight I gained from my quit. I snacked on everything in sight, and the next thing I know I'm 40 lbs heavier. To that end, I have started taking the dog for walks. We go about a mile each day, and in this heat that can be a challenge. I used to not even bother to go out in the hot weather when I was a smoker, because I couldn't breathe. Now, I am going for walks, playing golf, getting out and loving every minute of the summer. It is such an improvement to one's quality of life, and I feel awesome. I am in so much better shape now. I go outside in the heat and humidity and it doesn't really bother me anymore. At last check, so far I have taken off 10 lbs! Do yourself a favor, quit smoking, you won't believe how your life will change for the better. If you gain weight, get off your couch and go lose it. : )

I quit smoking on March 26th, 2009. I smoked a pack a day for 25 years. I quit because I began having health issues in my early 40's. I had a TIA and a stroke a few years ago. I work as a home delivery salesperson.
