Still wanting to quit

It has been 9 days since I quit smoking pot and all is well. I have a lot of anxiety but the doctor gave me Xanax for that. I hate taking chemicals. I was back to smoking two packs a day while quitting pot. I am back down to one pack a day and will be lowering that gradually. I am not a cold turkey kind of person. I am giving myself one week to quit for good. I find that grapes help a lot. When I have a craving I just pop a grape or two in my mouth. Grapes are like natures candy. This works well when I watch tv at night. I do not take cigarettes with me when I leave my apartment anymore. That is hard because driving was a big trigger for me, so I am winning small battles which proves to me that I can do this. This website is a big inspiration. I get to see that I am not alone with my struggles.

Thank you all for your support

I cryed a lot. It lasted for about 1 1/2 weeks (I quit 2 weeks ago.) ha.  So, I wouldn't be surprise if it comes back. For me, the only way out is through. I have to face this, once and for all.  Congratulation on quitting smoking and dealing with the depression. So much better than sucking it back.

Justgussy congrats on putting down the weed 🙂 I am an addict in recovery since 9/20/04 and I have 29 days free from cigarettes. You're doing the correct thing by teaching yourself  and getting used to not smoking. Good luck and Glad you're here!

JustGussy I can very much relate to where you are.  I too, quit smoking pot.  My doctor also put me on Xanax to help with that.  Today I am 109 days smoke free.  You can do this!  Keep reading here, start following the EX plan, identify your triggers, track your cigarettes, if you really want to quit, it is worth all the work.  I won't lie, the first couple weeks are very tough.  But, if you come here a lot, read a lot, walk a lot, hydrate a lot, and have the right attitude you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish!!  We're here for ya!

Congrats on quitting pot! It sounds like you are on the right path to stop smoking altogether. Grapes are a great idea. Keep hanging out here!

A while ago when I quit before my recent quit, tobacco, not pot, I’m so grateful for cannabis, I smoke it everyday, it does not affect my life negatively, but acknowledge everyone’s needs and experiences aren’t always like mine. Anyway tobacco in the car, one of the times I quit, I realized I liked the window open sometimes so began doing that without smoking, and I still do that now, like rolling the window down can be about the lovely sun or air outside, not just a cig, I figured that out and it was really good. It’s like I had to give myself permission to roll down the window. My permission used to be a cig, now it is that I just want the window down. Having lollipops in the car helped me stop associating the window down desires I have with tobacco. Same idea can be applied to stepping outside for air or any other routinee someone has or associates with tobacco, it’s serving a purpose and that purpose is not solely about tobacco in my opinion. It’s okay to step outside and lean on a building without a cig. In fact it might even be more normal without the cig, which came first, the air or the cig?
