Seasonal Triggers - FALL Has Arrived!

If you are in the first two years of a quit (and even longer for some), you should be mindful of the changes in seasons, holidays, annual parties, and certain chores that you only do occasionally that you associate with nicotine use. STILL, after 11 years quit, the thought, “gee a cigarette would be nice right now,” will hit when I take a break from raking leaves. Easy to dismiss, not a problem, but there nonetheless.  I only rake leaves once a year, so I have only practiced 11 times taking that break without smoking, so it makes sense, right?

"AHA, so THAT'S why the addiction rears its ugly head now!"  Be prepared, not surprised!

I smoked until a vascular surgeon informed me of the damage I had done to myself by doing so. I quit 11 years ago, and I can swim laps virtually FOREVER now, walk most other days 40 minutes to an hour and a half. What a difference quitting has made in my life! I strive to help others find this wonderful freedom from addiction, too.
