Need, need a plan. - shaky -

I'm very nervous to face this quit again.  I want to make a quit plan, so I need to set a quit date.

Thursday's a good day I guess.  Two weeks from now is Feb. 7 so that will be my quit date.

I have had trouble finding the day by day guide to working up to the quit date.

I need lots of help.

I filled out my profile more, like a lot of people suggested.

So what should I do, plan time every day looking at quit materials?  I feel like I need order.  A set time each day, for whatever amount of time.

Really want this quit, but scared, so scared to face it again!

Hi Miz Indiana, and welcome to EX.  You are at the right place for help and support to quit smoking. 

First you should be able to find the guide on your home page but if not try EX home page.  If that doesn't work yell for help again cause there is a way for you to get the quit plan for EX.  Second start reading about your addiction at whyquit.com.  Smoking is an addiction not only to nicotine but also to the other toxins that are added to cigarettes. That are also books by Allen Carr that can be downloaded for free(I checked one out at library).  The more you read the more you know what to expect while quitting.  My name is Betty and I will help you all I can.

First and foremost a heart-felt congratulations on choosing a quit date and asking for help! You have quit before so what are you afraid of? Can you name it?

Are you able to navigate on the homepage for quit prep or do you need help?

Hi there and welcome.

My advice is to watch out for your brain. Parts of your brain - the parts addicted to tobacco - really aren't into quitting and will try to keep you smoking. And the easiest way to do that is to make sure you never quit. And one way to make sure you don't quit is to stall.

When I first started to think I was ready to quit (over a year ago) I promptly came up with all of these conditions for quitting.

You can guess what happened. There was always some other reason, some other thing, some other event, that allowed me to say I can't quit now! Maybe next week. Or next month or ... So that's why it took me over a year to quit.

Here's how I finally quit: I bought some patches. I picked a date. I smoked my last cigarrette.

THEN, about a week later, I found this site by sheer accident. Have I read everything on it? Nope. Have I filled out everything I should? Nope. Have I smoked since I quit? Nope. So, who cares about the stuff on the site?

If you think worrying about filling in all the blanks on this site or following all of the steps is keeping you from quitting, forget this site, quit and come back if you want.

Remember: There is no right way to quit.

nobody felt more anxious and frightened than I did, but here it is 116 smoke- free days later, and I feel great and SO proud. You can do it, too! Just log onto this site for help.....that' s what I did.
