I've been smoking for 45 years and my quit day is Aug 1st. I'm determined to quit this time!!! I have a new grandaughter arriving in 3 weeks and I don't want her around it.! Please help me succeed this time!!
Wow Elaine..... you beat me. I smoked for 40 years.. .... Guess what ? You can quit !!! I did !!!!! Let me know if I can help. Lets go, it is a wonderful journey..........
The most IMPORTANT thing you can do for your quit now is to educate yourself about the addiction and the mind games it plays on us....READ,READ,READ for a successful quit...the more you read, the EASIER it is...
CHOOSE to quit smoking, not try. Educate yourself by reading these links to the materials that most of us have used to help us quit and STAY quit! This is about making a DECISION to never put another cigarette in your mouth, mean it, and be committed to follow through on that decision. Also allow NO excuses AND hang in there for as long as it takes, no matter how uncomfortable you become.... This is about re-learning your life WITHOUT cigarettes....start changing your "normal" routine....because a smoker's routine revolves around cigarettes. You will be a nonsmoker so change how you start your morning so it doesn't revolve around cigarette breaks, etc. You CAN do this! ....http://digg.com/newsbar/topnews/Allen_Carr_s_Easy_Way_To_Stop_Smoking_Download_free_PDF
You can do this!!! I have smoked for over 40 years and my final quit was on May 8, 2012. Everyone here is wonderful for giving help and support. Keep yourself busy the first week....I started a garden and went to the mall plus a few other places that were smokefree. You will be amazed at how much better you are going to feel. Welcome to the best site you could possibly be at.
Way to go Elaine! Nancy's advice is sound. Sticking close to the blogs really helps so please let us know how you are doing, if you need anything, etc. Remember to drink that water!!!
Thank you all for your encouragement. You are helping me to believe that I really can do this. My patches didn't come in the mail today from Quit Now so I guess I will start without them. I found an old bottle of Zyban (6 yrs. old) that I had kept. Do you think it would be safe to use?
