yay I'm on day 2 n my first cup of coffee. I have a dr appt today. I'm trying to wake my son up, he's not wanting to get up, oh joy!. I had a dream I was smoking and also that I was a coffin dealer. So freakin bizaare. My goal is to get thru today with no nicotine. Won't be hard as I will stay close to this site. Any advice?

My best advice is just keep pushing on. One foot in front of the other, one task after another, all going as usual just minus the cigarettes.

I suggest to a lot of people two big things. First, get, or make yourself a set of prayer beads, if you are religious, pray. If you aren't, use them to breath. One bead, one big inhale/exhale lasting several seconds. Second, get outside. Go find some woods. Scientific studies have shown repeatedly that forest/woods plants release oils that improve our mood and outlook, take advantage of it as much as possible.

At day 2, do anything you have to, just don't smoke. :). Post here a hundred times if it helps!

Each day will get easier I found.  If yuu have done your homework, you should understand that your body has almost now rid istself of nicotine (1 more day to go).  After that, the only "craving" you will have is for what you perceived to be the benffit of the cigarette.  In fact, there is NO benefit - just a cessation of the nictotine craving.  If you never smoked,, there would be no craving and thus no bodily reaction to the inhalation.  Once I understood that and rrally believed it, the craving for a cigarette became more of a memory for me and less of a "demand."  I remember feeling, "gee, this is when I usually had a cigarette, but it will not make me calmer, or happier, or more content - so why bother with it?"  I have been quit for a littler over a month now - and really don;t think about it much anymore.  When I do think about itt, I just keep myresolve first and foremost in my mind.  I absolutely believe that I can never have even one puff - I think that is alslo important to prevent a relapse.

Come on here anytime you need a boost.  We have all been on this journey - and want everyone to join us success stories!  I smoked for 40+ years and had never tried to quit before this time because I was convnced I was not strong enough to do it!  If I can do it - EVERYONE an!

I want to be done! I hate cravings but I'm also forcing myself to NOT lean on nicorette, even tho I have some. I want to be rid of the nicotine for once and for all.

The cravings are coming fast and furious today. I really want to smoke, but I also don't want to have to start over in my quit. I have no money for cigs anyways. I'm already on buproprion but it doesn't seem to be helping with the cravings like people say it does. I'm wondering if I can take it AND chantix....anyone know?

I wouldn't suggest taken those two medicines together. You may want to put a call into your physician to confirm that. Drink plenty of fluids to flush the toxins out of your body.

Melanie, when your son wakes up, go play a game with him or take a walk with him. That will take your mind off smoking and give you and your son some bonding time. Replace the bad habits with good healthy habits. That's how you stop smoking.

To be a non-smoker, you need to do as a non-smoker, think as a non-smoker, put yourself in situations of a non-smoker and no excuses accepted.

I just fought off a mad craving that had me considering scraping some change together to get some smokes. The reality is that we do not have even the change to smoke. We just can't afford it. I only have one more day of the cravings left at least until the nicotine is out of my system. I just have to stay busy. I'm sad tho.

Saddness is part of the process. It's OK to be sad for a little while. I heard a tip one time from one of our veterans here that recommended sucking on a piece of lemon. They said it will stop the craving cold. It's worth a shot and cheaper then buying cigarettes.

day 2 good for you. focus on what you want to happen.. ... that you quit.  you have a young person depending on you.  paint your nails, play with your kid.  do anything to push out the thought of lighting up.
