Day 1

Just needed to vent quick, and I know this is the place to do it!  I originally quit smoking 4 years ago and fell off the wagon. After a long time of smoking again, I have determined I am done for many reasons. I am rusty to this process, and fear has had me in a stupor the last several days....mainly because my quit day was fast approaching. I know this is the nicotine addiction talking, and once again Allen Carr's book helped me get that figured out....

I have completed day 1. And it was hard. So many cravings- but the worst this time was in my car (my job requires a lot of traveling). Ugh. And I got out of there as soon as I could, washed it inside out, and in the process forgot about a meeting I had tonight. I'm just foggy and can't seem to get thoughts together...and I never forget a meeting..UGH....

BUT, I have made it through Day 1. Today was my quit date, and I kept true to it. I will take it one day at a time. Thanks for letting me vent, #newbieagain #addictionsucks

Welcome back!

Glad you've done some reading.  Be sure to keep a cold bottle of water with you in the car, and maybe count the red/blue/white cars you see, or the lights you hit or miss.  If you usually travel a particular route, try changing it up so the scenery is new and different!

Congratulations on Day WON!

Hi, Dakotafarmergirl, good to see you.  I am new, have recently been where you are, know we are in your corner.  So glad you are here!

That is a determined face if ever I saw one!  That's a "You're not gonna get the best of me!" face.

You're right - this IS the place to vent.  And rust is removed by some fine steel wool and when necessary sand paper.in all its grades from fine to coarse.  This is a learning process.  Some of it's grand!  Some of it's NOT.  You're either in it, or hoping that you really don't need to be.  But you're here.  That's all that's really important.

Day 1 is over.  Addiction sucks for sure.   But we overcome it - one day after the next.  Keep true to YOU, that 'best of you' that made you come here,  and you cannot fail.  (Cheers from part of your cheering section...)

Hi  Dakota and Welcome! I see you have quite a bit experience quitting. I had 3 years behind me and now I;m back on day 4, seems the longer between quits makes it harder, But you have gone and done the right thing, by coming back here and I wish you yet another smoke fee day.

Yes, you know this is the right place, you have done it before and also know it is feasible.

How about this time, instead of being mad and angry, you change to a happy quitter, every time the crave hits, you smile knowing you are in the process of recovery after whatever many  years of slavery you have under your belt.

Since you have educated yourself on everything addiction related, maybe this time you can change the attitude, it definitely will change the way you go through the early stages, makes it way easier.  Some of us are natural happier quitters, others can "fake it till they make it", and you can also be one of them!

Congratulations, welcome back!

I had a lot of problems with simply dealing with being scatterbrained all the time.  I too was always on top of the game.  For myself, I'm quite anal retentive.  Always punctual, have a job that is time sensitive.  It's my own so I'm in control of it.  I've found that making lists and notes helped in the beginning.  I don't have a cell phone, but set reminders on that or your computer helps a great deal.  That passes after about 4 months.  Glad to see you back on the quitting game 😉  Hop on my page and read some blogs or just snoop around.  lots to learn on here
