Good to see you here this morning!  Congratulations on learning the site!  To give you an idea of my age, I can tell you that when I started working, I used a MANUAL TYPEWRITER, with pages and pages of onionskin paper and carbon paper for copies, and EVERY time you made a typo, you had to use an eraser and use a shield to keep from smudging all the copies behind it.  I have figured out most of this community (although not all, I must admit) and know you can, too!  Just keep looking around.  Here is another useful resource to help with that:  https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/community/community-help/blog/2017/02/14/ex-to-ex-instructions.

i hope you have found the Allen Carr book (Easy Way to Quit Smoking).  Nobody, I don't think, has found it easy, but he provides wonderful information about our addiction.  You can search online for a free pdf of it (I can't link it for you because of copyright stuff).

Have you quit or are you cutting back?

Cold turkey quit 1-2 days- days have been blurred due to 3-4 hr sleep pattern off then on. No sign or smell of cigars- cleaned out. Dreamed of holding one and woke up feeling it in my fingers. Coffee first line of defense against impending migraine this morning, ice pack on head feet in warm water. Last resort imetrex. Coffee has to be stopped until I can handle the trigger to smoke. One cigar said to be equal to 5 cigarettes so 4-5 cigars a day for my 115 lbs has my body/mind intoxicated overwhelmingly. How did I expect to sleep properly the last few years.... I’m a trained researcher and didn’t see it in myself. Integration of mind body spirit is constant not a destination— as I see it...

lol guess you got more than a yes or no answer from the dark mist of withdrawals.

Thank you.

Feeling like a cry coming on...

Have a good cry.  They're healing.

SO so happy you're navigating the site.

Good trial post by the way - even with a little heart!  Impressive.

And yes, this is your community.  You landed just where you need to be.  WELL DONE! WELCOME!

A cry is perfectly acceptable.  It releases  feel good endorphins.  It might also release some of the built-up tension.  ALL good.

You might try drinking your coffee in a place different than your smoking one, and drinking it with your OTHER hand.  I treated myself to a frozen Hershey Kiss with mine in the beginning, and brought my coffee to my computer and read here on the site.

Changing things up is how you relearn your life as an ex-smoker!

How is the headache?

I’m on day 2 thanks to the wonderful encouragement I got on this site, from people who really knew what I was feeling. Was going to ask if it’s ok that I cry a lot. So if you feel like crying I’m always ready and we can cry together. Don’t know if I can do this tomorrow but I’m trying to do it just one more day.  Hopeful you and I will help others one day  Barb

You can do this quit Barb102 one precious Smokefree Day at a time or hour minute or even one second at a time as long as you keep moving forward and stacking up your Days WON then you can and will be successful , I remember my early days and weeks and maybe cry one minute and feel like screaming or laughing the next, keep your mind as well as your hands occupied which helps and stay close because we're all here to help you through the rough patches....

You only need to do this an hour or a minute at a time.  Don't think yet about the days ahead.  Concentrate on getting through the next 15 minutes, and then another, and another.

Get busy!  Change your mind's direction. Go for a walk!  Play a computer game!  Call a friend!  Then - repeat as necessary!  This takes a great deal of effort in the early days, but it gets easier and easier to do.

Hang in there!

The first 3 days were my hardest but I kept really busy and was really Moody with everyone but I made it through and I remember thinking how hard it was but I was determined that I was going to succeed and you can and will be successful too, I used N.O.P.E - Not One Puff Ever And it helped me and keep blogging and reaching out to us because we're all here to help you, I drank and still do drink lots of water and I kept a bag of sugar free mints around too which helped me plus I chomped on carrots and celery sticks too.

Love No Mans Land-read, repeat as needed.

Day 3-my mouth and gums are excreting tobacco toxic ooky stuff. Increasing the "crave".. Ate one meal and squeezed through the crave.

The morning headache/migraine resolved long enough to eat.  Flushed face and eyes burning now with dull ache behind eyes.

Feeling self-absorbed; aware of every tiny physical, mental prick or tingle.  Managing guilt of the "me,me" a little bit.

Those who have offered a pm, thank you, I haven't forgotten you.

Long day, long night coming----no no no-   I will sleep and let my body restore each organ.

The nicotine will be out of your system by this evening, maybe try watching some comedy TV and just before bedtime maybe take a nice long soak in the tub, it may help you sleep better tonight, stay strong and know that we're here for you and tonight is another Day WON.
