For me, it was having an outlet so I didn't feel alone in the challenges, the people I met here who have become lifelong friends and the help in unlearning smoking (mental, emotional and physical). Mostly the people who are here to support each other.. it made all the difference...

It has been so long since I've "seen" you!!  For me, Ex meant knowledge.  It meant everything to me to know what to expect from my quit....from what addiction meant to what to do for cravings.  I love knowledge!!  The support here is amazing!!

The friendships come as well but I always want to caution others to not get so involved with the people that you forget why you're here.  Take care of you before taking care of others.  Not a popular stance, maybe, but to me very important.

This site provides the avenue to talk to others who have walked the walk!  Most of the quit smoking information out there is written by folks who have NO idea what they are talking about. 

They think telling us that cigarettes are bad for us will get us to quit!  Hello???  Has that worked for the past 25 years????  Smokers know that smokers think it won't happen to them. 

The other good thing here is the targeted education materials and support.  This place provides a "family" of those who have successfuly gone before, who are in the process, and are just starting out.  Everybody looks out for and cares about the quits of  everybody else here.

Foremost for me was being here and having the resources and  support to learn about nicotine addiction.  I mean really educating myself because I wanted to be free..  Yes I knew I was an addict but never took the time to learn in depth and how it affected me physically, mentally, financially and emotionally.  Once I started learning it was easier for me to focus on a forever quit.  402 DOF.

Hi Misty, good to see you.  I know if not for EX I would still be smoking. Having a support system and elders to guide me is what helped me the most.  I learned here I didn't have to smoke just because I thought I want to.

Hello there, this site helped me through education, acceptance, and amazing support. These people KNOW what they are talking about, what to expect, how to get past each and every crave.  I felt stronger as every day passed and I made amazing friends here, people I will know for all of my life.  

I came here every day, first thing in the morning and last thing at night.  I still come here most days, I have been quit for over 2 years after smoking for 47 years, on and off...mostly ON.  

This site is a lifesaver...it can pull you through anything!

The support, camraderie, knowing everyone had gone through similiar things but made it, feeling like people understood....all this and more is what I got from this site. I quit 6 years ago and I would say that 50% of my success is attributable to this site. The ohter 50% has to be your own attitude and determination.
