My name is Ann and today is my 1st day on this site. I have decided to quit smoking (with the help of patches) and set a date of Mar. 11th. This is the date my Mother died from cancer. I thought it would be a good tribute to her, me trying to save myself. 

My friend Misty recommended the site. I'm what she calls a serial quitter. I've quit quite a few times for a yr or more. Once I made it almost 4 1/2 yrs before I relapsed. This time I want it to last forever. The motivation this time is that I'm sick so much, I know my immune system is compromised from smoking and I feel that I may have the beginnings of COPD. I struggle so much to breathe now and the cough has been a daily thing for months...I want to survive and hate that I'm paying some big corporation to kill myself...seems like the definition of insanity to me.

Anyway, I'm here and hoping to meet others who have succeded, people I can look to for support and encouragement.
