I just quit on the 7th, so I am new to this site and getting used to not smoking. We can do it...we already have and can stay that way 😃
I know everybody has different approaches, but what has seemed to help me through the past week is a lot less coffee, started knitting, napping (when I needed it or just didn't know what else to do during the first few rough days), get on this website for info. and encouragement.
I am only 1 day ahead of you and yes I think about it ALOT. When I do start thinking about it I just breath.Sounds strange I know lol..but as I am taking deep breaths, I think to myself how I couldn't do that a week ago with out going into a coughing fit! I never wanna go back to that! So we can do this no doubt in my mind 🙂
Welcome to the site Tammy! There are a bunch of us "Carolina" folks here! I'm in Charlotte. Be sure to check out the sites Bobby gave you - really helpful info. Plus - stay close here! The support here is great!! I smoked for 40 stupid years - and I quit 520 days ago - so I know you can do this!!! Congrats to you!!
Hi Tammy, Welcome!!!!! I too thought of nothing but smoking every hour (sometimes every minute) during the first 3 weeks or so, but it does get better. It really does. I stayed right here in the community almost continously, and read read read everything I could get my hands on. I sipped ice cold water, went for walks, and snacked. Yup, I put on weight....but you know what???? That can be rectifyied after you get some time in on your quit. If you are committed you can do this. I did 212 days ago, and so so so happy I did. Life is awesome smokefree!!!!!
Hi Tammy, congratulations and welcome! This is a great spot to get support for your quit. We are all in various stages of quitting, there is always good company here. You have been given a load of great advice, please do the reading, breath deep a lot, and if you are able, exercise. A good brisk walk will do wonders for your overall well being. Glad you are here! Regards, Lisa
