Brain Fog

Mind (brain) Fog.

Apologize in advance for double posting but could not figure out how to "move" my question.

OK, so I am just wrapping up my 12th DOF.

Physical withdrawal gone, feeling good. Cravings, with the exception of several have been very manageable.

And I know.... "Don't let your gaurd down .... once you do, it will bite you in the @ss."

I still have this almost constant head fog. I've been taking Wellbutrin. Wondering if there's a connection?

Maybe too high a dose?

As an aside, I smoked for abt 35 years. Maybe it's related to years you smoked?

As Roger Waters penned "... gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise"

There is a kinda fog that you maybe experiencing on and off in your quit.  I used Wellbutrin it keep me rather alert if I remember correctly.   How long have you been quit?  Do you take any other meds?. What dosage are you taking? Are you staying hydrated? Are you exercising?  Are you getting enough rest? There are so many variables.

Thanks JACKIE1-25-15.

I am going on my 12 day! While I take other meds none are for the mind. I am not using NRT (cold turkey). Dosage is 300 MG (started at 150 for the first week). Hydrated - that may be an issue as I typically drink coffee in the morning and then switch to water in the PM, but in answer, probably not. Exercises - 1.5 hours in the gym 3 days a week (probably more like 2.5 on average). Sleep - I go for about 8 hours a night, usually don;t get more than 7 and many nights I do wake up and generally am restless for first 1-2 hours.

Thanks again for the feedback, looking forward to making my way through this haze!

Hi NeedToBe.  Experienced somewhat of the same thing over the weekend.  I'm on day 9.  It was strange I felt like I was in a kind of sleep.  Things didn't seem real even though I know I was fully awake.  Happily today has started off well and I don't feel that disconnect.  Keep it up.  Your going to be making it 2 weeks and that's wonderful!

MichelleDiane‌, yes, that;s what it feels like! Things are "fuzzy", hard to concentrate, thoughts slip.

Thanks for the encouragement and looks like you'll be double digits soon!

It is very common.  I experienced it for weeks at the beginning of my quit.  Check out this discussion: https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/message/102210-re-brain-fog-after-quiting?commentID=102210#commen...

Thanks TW517,

Did take a read through that thread and will try some of the suggestions. A little disconcerting that some folks experienced this for what seems a longer time period. Well, I guess it is "my" quit after all.

Thanks again.

I hear you.  It is somewhat nice to know your are not the only one experiencing something.  But we'd still rather hear, "Oh yeah, that symptom will go away tomorrow"

Your Brain forgot what oxygen feels like. It will learn. Give it time! Wellbutrin actually helps clarity. Try deep breathing and yoga if that's your thing.

Thanks Thomas3.20.2010,

Also read a tip you had in another thread (arggg... forgot to search prior to posting) about eating less more often.

Bought some protein bars, other snacks to bring to work and will try eating these throughout the morning/afternoon.

Thanks,
