Give and get support around quitting
When you quit smoking and the horribles catch up with you, what is something you do to help you through it?
During the first couple weeks of my quit, I literally sat down and read the articles on this website. I did! It was cathartic to read someone's journey and to get a different view of quitting. I also loved watching inspirational stories on youtube.
Anything to get a better mind-set was important to getting out of the funk of wanting a cigarette.
Good advice! Glad you found the site helpful. A LOT of the successful quitters here stayed close to the site early in their quits. Coincidence? I think not.
Thanks for putting this out there!

Crank up the music...if I can dance...I dance, if I can't because of pain, there are always SOME parts of my body that I can move and I can close my eyes and travel to a different time. Staying close to this site saved me many, many times.

I've danced more in the last year than I have in my entire life. I went to high school in the early '70s. The music was post bubble gum and pre disco. Think Led Zepplin, Jethro Tull, etc. No one danced back then, even at the school "dances". I remember my older brother (who graduated high school in 1965) asked me how kids my age meet girls if no one dances? But when I quit smoking, I became a dancing fool : /blogs/TomW5.15.17Blog/2017/07/31/i-cant-stop-dancing
Reading the suggested literature kept me busy. Staying busy at home doing a lot of things I had procrastinated about. Breathing and selft talk was a life saver.
I loved being outside, but if the weather didn't cooperate I would keep myself busy with reading, knitting, watching movies, cooking and baking. I find myself going back to those things each and every time I stray because they continue to work. Make it a great day
There’s a beautiful song. I hope you dance. I hope we all dance

Love that song!
I made them play that at my mother's funeral because she was always shy and afraid to step out...I KNOW she is dancing with my father now and she has been since 2002, he died in 1980.
