Give and get support around quitting
My name is Marlo. I was 8 days smoke free. I felt as if I had overcome most of my daily triggers that could trip me up. I wasn't expecting to have sex after a very long time. (It was a pleasant surprise )
Unfortunately, the first thing I did was have a cigarette. And I've had a second one since.
so, do restart my count like an alcoholic would? Or... Do I call this a speed bump and not do it again?
Today, I don't know if I can stay away from a cigarette. This is the first time I have truly felt like an addict. That scares the hell out of me.
I believe you have to start over. Otherwise we can all smoke a few whenever we like and keep our date. Hell, I quit every night for 8 hours. It's the days I've struggled with.
Sorry after 8 days you chose to smoke. It probably would be a good thing that you do not have cigarettes around so you don't have to feed the trigger.
I can't believe no one said Congrats on getting some sex!
LOL
When is your new date?
If you haven't already, get a hold of Allen Cars Book.
Deal breaker in my world.
Lmao! ! Thank you it really was a pleasant surprise
Sometimes I say one cigarette is a slip, but since you just quit recently, I would start over. I agree with Bellegonia Glad you had some sex.
March 1st. Good date! (I'm partial to it myself as it's when I quit. Storm did too.) I'll tell you this, it's a date you'll never forget. It's like a second birthday.
Another blog on living with someone who smokes - in this case a spouse. Smoking Spouse, Partner, Friend, Mate, etc. If you type "spouse who smokes" in the search box you be presented with a whole bunch of blogs written by various people on the topic. Here are a couple more: /blogs/Michwoman-blog/2013/05/29/quitting-when-you-live-with-a-smoker and https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/community/expert-advice/blog/2015/10/26/boundaries-support-living...
It is harder, but it will just make your success that much more delicious!
Maybe you had sex by surprise because you were not smoking and you smelled good.
