New Quitters Check In!

Hi!  I noticed there are several new quitters this week so I thought we could support you all in one place and you could each get to know your fellow quitters and support one another.

Are you new in your quit?  Did you choose to quit just before the holidays or did you quit on 1/1/2018?  Are you less than 30 days into your quit?

Let everyone know how you are doing!  You can check in here to support each other and get support from the /blogs/Giulia-blog/2017/06/18/elders-list-ao-december-7-2016?sr=search&searchId=37122da5-d471-4574-9...‌ or those who have some DOF (days of freedom) behind them!

Share the victories and the struggles.  You never know how it may touch someone.

Just wanted to say to both lorapCarolinaGal. Hi and congratulations on your days of freedom won!! I am currently on Wellbutrin and am celebrating 81 dof. So It works. At about 40 days I cut the dose back to 150mg from 300mg. At about 60 days I cut it down to 75mg. I have a pill cutter that cut them in half. By Mid Feb. I plan to take 75mg every other day.  I read several sources that said don't abruptly stop this drug if you've been on it for 6 or more months. There are withdrawal symptoms. Myself, each time  stepped down, I experienced a wee bit of anxiety for one day. That was all. But everyone is different. Good luck. We have all been where you are. One Day at a Time.

I am thinking about changing from Chantix to Wellbutrin.  The side effects are becoming to much for me.

I am going to talk to my dr.  I am down to 3 cigs a day, and I don't want to stop until I see my dr out of fear that I will start smoking more  without it.

I tried Chantix a few years back. It was rough. It made me very agitated and cranky. Bizarre dreams... Definitely see your doc. As far as the Wellbutrin, I had trouble with canker sores in my mouth and I got stomach cramp if I didn't eat something with taking it. I'm probably hurrying getting off wellbutrin, but I don't want anymore chemicals in me. Way less side affects. good luck pktabron

Thanks, can you tell me more about how Wellbutrin helped you.  I know that Chantix blocks receptors so I am not getting the nicotine rush.  Does the Wellbutrin do that too?

I think the meds treat everyone differently. I did chantix last year for 3 months. It didn't treat me well.  Wellbutrin has been better for me. I specifically requested low dose tho. I can't take it at night, I have to take it mid morning to avoid the dreams. Talk to your dr! I have issues keeping focus on it at times but it doesn't make me as sleepy as chantix. Being tired all the time is a huge trigger for me ! I don't want to sleep my life away.
