Give and get support around quitting
Just joined this site. I have been a smoker for about six years now. I'm 26. I'm so sick of how it makes me feel. My body always feels week and I run out of breath so easily. I really want to start working out and get into better shape, but I get winded so easily that I get discouraged and stop trying. I set my quit date for two weeks from now. Any suggestions on what I should be doing in these two weeks?
I'm gonna let my friends know, and I'm gonna try and mentally prepare myself.
Welcome man. You just stepped into a whole world of good. You sound like you're doing everything just right, Really wanting to quit, reaching out (It's so good you landed here). You are going to get a lot of support from good down to earth people, a lot smarter than me... Listen to them, Start identifying your triggers, Read and Write as much as you can on this site, (Invaluable) do all of this even before you quit...and bring it all into your quit. You will be strong and you will succeed. YOU will do it.
Good Morning and good decision on your part! There will be someone along soon to send you lots of material to help you prepare for your quit. I myself love Alan Carrs book called the EASY WAY to quit smoking. Its unique other stop smoking books. It got down onto the thinking part of why the smokes held me captive for so long..
Meanwhile....read all over this site. tons of info here and support. read old and new materials. reach out to anyone whenever you have questions. Get yourself educated all about addiction to nicotine. Until I truly had a grasp on that, my quits failed.
I wish you well and hope to see you around. Ill support you anyway I can in here. This site is full of wonderful people who will help you through this. Best to you and Happy Friday.
Great advice John10forteen. Also, I find that Alan Carr's book Easyway to quit smoking to be helpful. It helps adjust the way you look at the quit and can make the overall experience easier. There're a lot of great people on this site to read from and interact with. Congrats on your decision to quit!
Yea, Allen Carr's book was amazing. I don't know what version I read but I downloaded it and printed. It was my favorite read during those times. I'm confident someone soon will share that link with you quitting guy, I don't have it handy now. Sorry.
