Yes, it will go away and you are right in acknowledging that you miss an" Old friend," that is exactly what it feels like. But, bear with it you have and are in the PROCESS, of grieving at the loss. It's o.k. it's more than O.K. this old friend can go his way without you & you without him!! Remember the old saying, "With friends like that who needs enemies?" You don't need this friend any more. Just give yourself time and permission to leave this killer friend behind. I'm with you I went through this same feeling. But, it does get better and easier every minute. Trust in the process.
