Hi! My name is Patti. I live in Kansas City, Ks. I am a 53 (almost 54) year old female who has been smoking for 41 years. I have had 6 surgeries in the last year and twice ended up with pulminary embolisms and almost died. All surgeries were in the abdominal area and hae left me with no muscles in my stomach. Because of no muscles my stomach is protruding and I look like I'm 7 months pregnant! I call him "Bubba!" I've been sent to a surgical specialist who says he can help but only if I have quit smoking for 21 days. Well....today is 21 days until my surgery is scheduled. I have tried the last 3 days and have not done very well. I do not want to continue living my life with "Bubba", because of the shape I am in i stay in the house except for errands so no one sees me. One time I was out I overhead someone talking about me saying that I was pregnant! Horrible experience! I am on disability because of other health reasons so I am home day in and day out. I also have a room mate/renter who lives in my basement and he smokes. Not helping matters. I have to quit for my health, my looks and my life. I'm hoping this site can help to get this accomplished once and for all. Thanks to anyone listening!!
I've been an ex smoker for 26 hours. I'm feeling edgy and nervous a lot of the time. Taking some deep breaths seems to help a little. I smoked for 45 years. Started at age 13, and quit on my 58th birthday, 11-17-13. I have a 2 year old granddaughter and I don't want her to see my bad example as a smoker. I am tired of the stink! I hate paying the money for cigarettes when they are literally killing me. I have quit many times for about a month and then just start up again. I want it to be permanent this time.
I need advice on how to stay quit. I quit a week ago, and I
have been in a ditch lately. Any suggestions?

Hi, I am a 61 yr. old female from North Carolina . I have smoked for many years . Luckily I have been blessed , when my lungs are x rayed , they are always clear. God has been good to me. I am having a very serious scoliosis surgery sometime in February and the doctor said I have to quit smoking or he won't do the surgery. I have no other options than to have the surgery. My spine is curved so bad that I am all bent over . The scoliosis is starting to compromise other parts of my body. I need a partner or a group of friends who will be supportive to me. I need all the help I can get . I want to be quit by December 29th , which is my birthday. I can't think of a better birthday gift to my self than to stop smoking 🙂 I completley believe in God and know that he will give me strength to stop, but I also know that I have to do my part. Thank you and God Bless ....<3
I am 53 and been a consistant smoker for 35 years. I absolutely have to quit and my husband is seriously no help at all being a smoker as well. He has no intention of quiting even though he has a heart condition so I cannot get rid of the smoking paraphinalia. I have spoken to him multiple times and he swears he is going to help me but I know from experience he wont. I would really appreciate a quit buddy who can get me through this with as little discomfort to everyone around me as posible.
This is a cold turkey adventure since I seem to be allergic to all the aids availible which puts added pressure on me. I actually did quit in September and made it all the way to Thanksgiving week, then the husband took 2 weeks vacation and it all fell apart. I know that I can do this with some support. Thanks for listening ....
