I was watching a show this morning called Mike and Juilet Show, they were dicussing smoking. There are employers that are firing people for smoking and one company actually gave there employees 15 months to choose ciggs or there job, they are blood tested every so often and there spouses also have to quit. Last time I checked we lived in a free country, I don't think it's right for an employers to fire you because you chose to smoke. If they don't want smokers working for them then they should put out ads for non-smokers, I've seen those ads before. As for the blood testing I think that is just crazy. I would like to hear what other smokers have to say about this issue.

i quit smoking 27 days ago after smoking for 35 years. i would like to see everyone stop smoking for their health but i do agree with you this is suppose to be the land of the free and i feel like alot of our rights are slowly getting taken away from us.

Oh wow. Obviously the higher ups on that show have never smoked before. While it's true that smoking is unhealthy, it is completely up to the individual as to whether or not they smoke. Were I in this situation, I would continue smoking and sue for wrongful dismissal if I were fired. The nerve of that show to hire smokers and then threaten to fire them for it is unbelievable. It's frighteningly authoritarian of them.

Well it wasn't that show that was doing it they were just bringing it to the worlds attention by discussing it on there talk show. I agree though I would sue them too. Not just cause I smoke, cause it's wrong.
