hey all, getting some inspiration and information to quit smoking. looks like a great source for support here.

really tired of servicing this addiction, been way too long.

quit for a year and 4 months once, ashamed to say that was 22yrs ago. anticipate this will not be a fun first few weeks...I seem to get difficult, jittery, and very cranky. as is common, the first 3 days for me are a variety of Hell. any and all support is greatly appreciated.

best to all-Jerry

Hey Jerry,
Congratulations on deciding to quit again. You've done it once before and you know what it takes. I was just like you. I quit for 2 years and it was moving to a new apartment, I thought I could have just one and was safe because it had been 2 years... that was in 1994 and I just quit 6 months ago. I also was jittery and ill tempered and whinney and all that stuff...so what. I got through all of it without smoking and apologized and did things to make up for it!Make your quit your priority...Tell everyone that you are quitting and ask for support. It helps when frustrated to come on here and blog and talk to people there is a ton of support here, I never would have made it this long without it.Whatever it takes...but you know that!
Good luck!

Hi Jerry,
You are in the right place.
Check out whyquit.com. Read and watch the videos. This site helps so much for changing your attitude towards smoking.
I'm here if you want to talk. Add me as a friend if you want. Send me a message anytime.
We are all in this journey together. I've been here almost a month. I am edging towards freedom. My desire to smoke is at 10% and my desire for freedom at 90%. When I started here, those numbers were reversed.

Hi,
I agree with Sharona check out the whyquit.com. It will probably help change your way of thinking. I know it sure helped me out with the battles I had going on in my mind about quitting. Look around in this site the people are amazing and all want to see everyone quit. It's truely so much help here and support.

I think the anticipation of how hard it will be is worst then actuality. I wasn't Little Mary Sunshine at first either, but one day at a time I got through it and all my family members still have all their limbs and don't hate me... Now that is an achievement! Just remember you aren't alone and if you shout someone here will hear you and help.

Guys, thanks for writing these. I'm not too proud to ask for help when I need it. Thinking about a quit date of the Sunday after next, when I return from a short vaca trip. In the meantime I will chk out the site Sharona and Jan recommended and stiffen my spine.
