Description

I joined this group in April of 2012 and quit, cold turkey, on May 8.  I prepared for the quit by reading about the addiction here on this site, at stopsmokingonline and in Allen Carr's book, The Easy Way to Quit Smoking.  And I did the preparation exercises this site takes you through.

But the most important thing I did was to finally DECIDE to quit, and to ask God to convict me that smoking is WRONG.

It seems that if I can justify something, I will continue in it even if it hurts me.  When God answered my prayer over the conviction matter, I no longer had the freedom to smoke.

And that is what freed me.  Praise HIM!

Other than that, what you should know about me is that I am a flawed individual who sometimes will say the wrong thing.  Like most people, I will state my opinion as though it were fact.  Unlike most people, I will state my opinion whether or not it is popular.

I am not much of a boot-licker.

But I do not need to be loved by everyone.  And that is a strength.

so glad you found us!  this is a community of people who truly want to help each other succeed in living a smoke-free life.  keep in mind: there is no "try".  to paraphrase yoda, you either do, or don't do.  this applies to smoking, just like anything else.  you don't have to want to quit.  but you do have to decide to quit.  and quitting is very likely not as hard as you fear it will be. the best thing to do right now is to educate yourself about the addiction.  the info in the 2 links below has helped many people quit smoking and stay quit.  http://media.wix.com/ugd/74fa87_2010cc5496521431188f905b7234a829.pdf (if this link does not work, try "googling"  allen carr, easy way to quit smoking) http://quitsmokingonline.com if you have already quit and are struggling, take deep breaths, take long walks, play a video game, stick your head in the freezer or bite a lemon!  do anything to distract yourself and get through the smoking thoughts.  and remember that this will pass.  come here and get to know us.  you wi
