Well, then it's no surprise to you that this is your life we're talking about. You still have the chance to quit and you CAN. Smokers seem to view quitting as this completely impossible task. I always did. There was always that nagging thought in the back of my head going "Pfft, quitting? That will be too hard" and then youre held prisoner still. But we never seem to look at the fact that people quit smoking every single day. People who've been smoking for a year to 40 years- they're quitting every single day because it is COMPLETELY possible. No one is an exception. No one can say "Oh, well thats them. I CANT do that" because they're kidding themselves so they have some sort of excuse not to quit. "Not strong enough," "Not ready," "Not this- not that" but it's all just excuses. Quitting smoking is something that CAN be done and IS done every single day. Don't lie to yourself and tell yourself you're the exception that cant do it, because YOU CAN. No matter what, you CAN pull yourself through and in the end, you deserve to be happy and healthy!

You can write to me anytime, just click on the icon or enter my name in the search bar at the top right of the page.

I will send you some tools , but you have to use them, go to my page and read there too. Go to Maggies page, Hwc page and follow the links.

you have to educate yourself and take the time to learn more, Thomas has some great statistical type blogs he has put up and he has copd, there are two women i know of fighting to stay alive and waiting for lung transplants, Kellie and Joanne.

there are links to theri blogs on my page

there is a link to a free book by allen carr, "quit smokin gthe easy way"

read it.

I would rather breathe than smoke

smoking doesnt help anything

choose life, it sounds like you know you will die faster if you continue

no use in me telling you that.

when I quit I didn't want to make my son or family cry over a smoking related illness, then I stopped for myself becaseu i didn't want to suffer a suffocating death.

I have seen emphysema and it's slow and painful.

with your heart it's only a matter of which cigarette will kill you, could be the one you are smoking now.

If you want some tough love talk to Peggy.

I will send you something right now

warm regards andnice to meet you

You came to the right place. You will be so amazed at how well you can breath after you quit. I have COPD and coudlnt breath and coughed up gunk everyday, all day. now quite simply- I DO NOT.

If you had asked me 6 months ago, i would have told you I coughed all the time becuase of allergies and COPD. Well guess what, it was from smoking.

I mean sure my lungs are tight and I still have to take medications I'm not off of them yet. but-you can do this.

And if you were looking for tough love, you came to the right place. 🙂

Hi Kathleen!  Welcome!  You did get great advice!  The only thing I want to add is to come here every single day, read, read, read!  Read all the blogs, read the successes, read the failures, you will learn so fast!  This is a wonderful bunch od people that you will come to care for and who will care for you.  Promoise yourself you will do this for you, it is not always easy.  You, darling, are addicted like me and everyone here to cigarettes. That addiction is like a life on its own and will lie lie lie, will make you think every thought imaginable to get you to smoke.  Coming here will keep you on track.  We're here for you!

You can do this!!  The number one thing to remember (at least for me) has been "I AM WORTHY OF THE EFFORT!  I AM WORTHY OF A HEALTHY LIFE!!".  For me it was about doing this for me!  This website and the many people here will always give support, friendship, a swift kick in the pants if your blog sounds like you may be going down the wrong road!  My Mom was recently diagnosed with COPD, she is 65 and has smoked since 15.  50 years of smoking and she quit!  She quit before me.  I quit because I wanted to but also because this was something I could do to support her too!  So we are doing this together!  Sounds like you too have a partner to help you.
