Someone on here said after you eat brush your teeth.   I used lollipops for when I wanted that cig then tried to use apples or lifesavers.  I also tried to keep busy.Cleaned a lot during my first few weeks.

No alcohol.  Big trigger.  You can either never eat again....... or never stop eating.  I havent figured out which one i'm doing yet!  lol

I can't sit on the deck......  that was my smoke place.   My car.  It finally smells ok.  When I smoked..... I WAS A LOYAL SMOKER.  I always smoked.... which is making my quit challenging.  I just feel boring.  Sad.  Right?

Keep it up... you are doing great.  Fabulous attitude.  🙂

Start back from square one and READ, READ READ READ READ this time...it will be the major difference in your quit!  🙂

The most important thing you can do for your quit now is to educate yourself about the addiction and the mind games it plays on us....READ,READ,READ for a successful quit...the more you read, the easier it is...

CHOOSE to quit smoking, not try. Educate yourself by reading these links to the materials that most of us have used to help us quit and STAY quit! This is about making a DECISION to never put another cigarette in your mouth, mean it, and be committed to follow through on that decision. Also allow NO EXCUSES and hang in there for as long as it takes, no matter how uncomfortable you become.... This is about re-learning your life WITHOUT cigarettes....start changing your "normal" routine....because a smoker's routine revolves around cigarettes.  ....http://digg.com/newsbar/topnews/Allen_Carr_s_Easy_Way_To_Stop_Smoking_Download_free_PDF

My start date was supposed to begin July 18th, however Miss Impatient (myself) has decided I can DO THIS and started a couple days ago.  Coming up on the 2nd day, I completely lost it and ran to the store!  Instead of purchasing a pack of Cigs, I got an E cig instead.  It is helping.  Still smoke free. THANK GOODNESS!

Several of my triggers were weird, too.  I don't think  a shower was ever a trigger, but after doing a load of dishes would make me want to smoke.  I read for enjoyment, played with my dog, or went for a walk.  I read several articles about smoking, but i got bored...ADHD!  I would say stay away from the alcohol and drink water.  Try to find something you enjoyed before you smoked and start doing that again.  Mine was being outside with my nonsmoking friends who hate smokers.

If you want to keep your friends...you might want to shower.

If you CAN---don't try to avoid them---ride them through almost the way you would ride a wave. Don't be afraid of them...know they are going to come and sort of try to stand outside yourself (like a researcher) and observe what happens. Sometimes---fighting them is the worst thing.

However, I found that cough drops (I like HALLS but---doesn't matter---were a BIG help. Cough drops are mouth anesthetics (read the package--I'm serious) They really just dull that whole oral thing so they not only help with not smoking but also with eating.

Stay Strong.
