Amanda,

Tell yourself when the craving is really strong...."In 5 minutes I am going to smoke a cigarette."  Or "In 5 minutes I am going to go to the store and buy a pack."  When the 5 minutes has passed your craving will be gone...poof!

You will have to do that throughout the day, but it does work.

NOPE (NOT ONE PUFF EVER)

Thanks guys, long story short, I realized the multitudes of antibiotics I am taking makes my mood so much worse than it should be, I will not give in, I NEARLY did but resisted.  Having all this support makes it worthwhile.  Thank you all so much!

I have found it to be true that the urge to smoke will pass... weather you smoke or not ?... So choose to NOT SMOKE... Yes maybe the urge will return in 5 minutes but again you choose to NOT SMOKE... Every time you choose to NOT SMOKE, you become stronger against this addiction... It really is the exact same way you became  addicted to smoking.... Each time you choose to smoke ... you made the addiction stronger until it became natural to smoke... When you continue to choose to NOT SMOKE, eventually it will become natural to you..I am now at 91 days smoke free and I will PROTECT my quit this time..I still have thoughts  about smoking... kinda like after a meal I should be lighting up.. But I refuse to think on those thoughts..I turn my mind to think on something else.. What do people who never smoked do after eating? I can be like them... I can do this... YOU can do this... People have done it before us and we can leave a path for people to follow in who want to quit as well..God Bless you on this journey and remember You Can Do This..

Keep up the fight - I wish I had quit at 35, but better late than never. Push through the cravings. I smoked for 31 years and I am on Day 217. It can be done and you can do it. It does get easier and the journey is different for each of us. Check out the websites mentioned above - some really good info can be found there.  Best wishes!!!
