ready to quit

I enjoy smoking. Some of my friends say they hate smoking and they wish they didnt have to. But I like to smoke. I have decided to quit because of health reasons, because of my son, for other reasons. But not because I don't like it.

I was encouraged to learn that if i quit smoking my body will repair itself. I didn't know that. I really want to be able to run, jump on the trampoline, swim, etc without getting out of breath. I definitely don't want to get cancer. And I'm supposed to quit before age 30 because of birth control. It's time to stop.

I quit because my fiance hated the smell.  I quit for better health, longer life and an expanding list from there.  I also enjoyed smoking and found a good drag damn relieving on far too many days.  Smoking is counter productive to stress relief.  I didn't believe it either at first.  I am 20 days into it and although I am using a lava tube, this was able to relieve my want for a cigarette and is giving me the ability to gradually reduce my nicotine intake.  This is not quick for me and it is alot of effort, but my loved ones already enjoy me not smelling like smoke.  I am starting to enjoy fresh air for the first time in 12 years and my want to a cig gets a little smaller every day.  I wish you the best of luck and let us know how you are doing.

I knew I did not like smoking a long time ago but I was afraid to quit, nicotine is pretty convincing when it tells you that you can't do it.  You CAN do it.  I smoked for 47 years and I am 4 days shy of 4 months now and I honestly could not be happier.  Still short of breath when I exert myself but I am hoping it will get better...at least I am not doing something that is making it WORSE.

Welcome and do the reading, do as much reading as you can, this site will help keep your head above water.

It's almost funny to see that you "enjoy" smoking. I used to say that all the time. And I really believed it too. What you really enjoy is ending the cravings. Trust us all here when we say that nicotine IS a liar - it's all a lie and I will go as far as to challenge you. I say you WILL say that it was a lie after you've achieved your goal.

You CAN do it. You don't want to hear "I see some disturbing spots on your lungs that we need to check out immediately" do you???

Take the advice and do the reading. You will never regret quitting.
