"THE CARRY-OUT"

Hello all, I was making icing for the cake I baked this morning and realised, I had no milk. Too chicken to go to the corner carry-out where I used to buy three cigs for a dollar once a day and sometimes twice a day. (certian places)
So. I asked my boyfriend to go get the milk. He was tired from plowing snow all night he said just take my truck. I was overcome with fear. I said ok, I had a flood of cravings, I mean A FLOOD! ..;... noone will know, only one,... just one more....maybe i wasn't ready to quit .... I mean just a flood. Thanks to you'lls advice, I knew what to do with these UNWANTED cravings. I kept telling myself you can do this, you are stronger than the cravings, you will make it through this and next time it will be easier. I bullied the cravings right back, Guess what? I made it to the store and back home and I am still smoke free,( I am amazed at myself, really) Day Two. This is not easy, actually very very hard. One of the hardest things I've ever attempted! I know If I keep this mindset, I will succeed, Because you all told me I would... Thank you from my heart!

WAY TO GO PAMELA!!!! That was my biggest challenge, leaving the house. I didn't have any in the house, so I was worried about having to go out...Would I cave? But you did it. You have to be stronger than the urge!

Good for you! See? You really CAN do it! I remember day two - and you're right, it was EXTREMELY hard, but here I am at day 16 and still smoke free, so if I can do it (smoked half-a-pack for 37 years), then I know you can, too. Congratulations! And remember to congratulate YOURSELF every night upon retiring for the good job you did this day. Keep up the good work!

That is fantastic. I'm glad you posted. the story. It is nice to remember that we can do it, and that after riding out those overwhelming craves it sure looks better on the other side.
