I'm going to try again to quit smoking, I hope this will help.  I am just concerned this itself may cause me more stress.  I wonder if anyone out there felt the same way.

Help what?

What will cause you more stress?

Someone has most likely felt the same way.

What are we talking about?

Hi , I sent you some info.

I'm sure we all wondered if we would make it in the beginning, I know I did, I worried for the first year. now I have over 1000 days. This site and my counselor and friends helped alot. Education is the key and getting involved here will help you tremendously.

Just post HELP on a blog before you smoke and wait a little bit.

or just get on here and blog whats on your mind, stay busy and exercise.

YOu have grooves in your brain for smoking, literally and you need to make new ones. Pick up an old hobbie, make a list of things you can do instead of smoke,

make a nice fruit and vegetalbe platter to munch on. there are so many suggestions. work a program, call 1-800-lungusa between 8 and 10 if you need to talk to someone right away, they have professionals that answer the phones.

Check out the page I sent you.

welcome

warm regards aztec

it will be nice to get to know you!

happy sunday

1st. get rid of the "can i do this mentality" YES you can, obviously you want to because here you are.  If ur a full time smoker and i don't believe i've ever met anyone who is not :O) you need help, you can't do this alone unless you live on a deserted island. get a med, patch what ever. then find some friends that do not smoke and hang out with them, try not to be alone in the beggining because your mind will get the best of you like "you can't do this" or "just one then you'll quit"  it's not good. and get some grapes, pop those in your mouth continuosly, lots of water, and go go go

Hi and welcome. I know I sorta felt the same way. The hardest part is making the decision to quit. Once you know all the facts about what smoking is doing to your body, the harm it causes your lungs and other organs, you start to realize how deadly smoking really is.

Im sure aztec sent you some good reading material. Just start reading everything you can and get educated. Its a little scarey in the beginning, its because its something new. This addiction is very strong on our brains, its plays with our minds so bad. You have to fight really hard to get the nicodemon beat.

You can do this...

my advice, stay on the site as much as you can, read as much as you can, and stay positive and committed to yourself and your quit.

we're all here for you.

welcome

Yoda says: "There is only do or not do, there is no try"

One word makes all the difference. The word for me was COMMITTMENT.

Once I made my daily committment in the morning not to smoke then thats it. A committment overrides your emotions. A committment makes it easy because you don't have to keep deciding over and over again, you just refer back to your committment.

Committ and quit

After smoking for 40 years:

My name is Stephen, and I am a nicotine addict.
I have stopped nicotine for 5 months, 14 days, 13 hours, 18 minutes and 54 seconds (167 days).

I've not smoked 3854 death sticks, and saved $970.10.
I've saved 13 days, 9 hours and 8 minutes of my life.

Yes I have tried again and again Im on day 5 and still struggling. I try to look at what I have accomplished with each try and  ask myself why I smoked one and then I realize it just hurt me and held me back from my goal of being smoke free.No your going back and forth is teaching you how to finnally quit. Thats what I did!!!!!!! Stick with it and you will see you will get used to not smoking and it will get easier to say NO IM NOT HAVING ONE!!!!!

When you "try" to do something you sub-consciously leave yourself an "exit strategy", excuse, opportunity to fail.  And we all "try" various things in our lives.

I suggest that instead of "trying", you just do it!  Make the decision that NO MATTER WHAT you will not smoke. It's a much more effective quit strategy!!

Hoping for the best for YOU!  Praying smoke FREE!!!!.

Check out http://quitsmokingonline.com/ and Allen Carr's book - "The Easy Way To Stop Smoking" - free download - http://joga.365.lt/Allen-Carr_Easy-Way-To-Stop-Smoking_Download-free-PDF-EBook

You will find out in the reading that smoking is actually causing stress - not relieving it! I swear - I didn't believe it either!! But, I do now!! Read! Please!
