I hope it doesn't last forever. But it's probably your body's way of cleaning itself out. Have you seen only 1 doctor? Maybe get a 2nd opinion?

my problem is the opposite ,,, i dont think im coughing up enough...pay attention to color,... it is very important as this is the indicator of infection...

I know that after I had quit for close to a year, I suddenly had a case of what felt like my lungs filled up with mucous and I had a real hard time breathing. Afterwards I coughed for several hours before I got a grip on it. This happened for a while.

But now this issue seems to have rectified itself. I no longer get those kinds of attacks. I think maybe Phil's right and it's the bodies way of clearing things out, or perhaps the bodies way of using the new resources now available to it.

I do hope it improves for you but if not I would again have to agree with Phil. Perhaps a second opinion maybe even from a lung specialist just for peace of mind if for no other reason.

 And congratulations on 5 months!

I have seen my family doctor and a lung specialists, and an allergist, all tests are coming back normal, but the lung specialists did a bronchoscopy and washed alot of mucuos out of the back of my throat, there is nothing showing on my scans, I just hack up mucous all the time...so worried, don't know how long I can do this

I wouldn't worry about it if the medical profession is not requesting more tests. did any one suggest unplugging the mucous machine?
