I commented in the "friends who mock you" thread that i successfully avoided smoking for the entire night last night which I was happy about because it was the first time I've gone for a night out of drinking/dancing that I haven't given in to the urge to smoke. Both my friends kept asking me if I wanted one I would simple say no, confidently. They didn't make a big deal or try to pressure me after that. But I noticed something hilarious. I came prepared with my nicotine lozenges (which I like so far), a pack of diamond's lime and chili flavored almonds and a bottle of water. When I pulled out my almonds and started snacking while they smoked they both looked at me as if they couldn't fathom doing anything else during that time but smoking. They kept stopping to peer at my almonds in a peculiar way as if to say "why haven't i thought of bringing something to snack on?" Because you think like a smoker and smoking is the end all be all activity to follow any event, I thought. I was trying to redefine what it means to have a fun celebratory night with the girls and right now bringing something small to snack on helped. Drinking less alcohol also helped. I maxed at two light beers for the whole night of partying. Also the lozenges were a God send. It wasn't intense but it definitely made me less desperate for the cigarettes. I felt calm and in control of things.
