Hi my friends... Talking to my son last night and he asked me how My quit was going?! I was soooo excited to tell him that I was doing awesome!!!! He said "Mom" Remember you have done this soooo many times before and went right on back to them.!" yes,I know Jeremy but this time around I'm doing all I can do to get this block head of mine to realize that I'm seriously killing myself slowly. So I proceeded to tell him all about you all and the knowledge and support I continue to receive. He then told me he and his girlfriend quit on new years night.!!! Whooo hoooo I was dumb founded!!! My son and I have quit a few times together and He or I would give in. When nancy gave me the info. on Allen Carr's book I bought 4-copies and sent 2-my son's way and one to my sissy. he said he hasn't had time to read it yet,But he would.... I also sent him n his girl patches I had received but decided to just go cold turkey. So since he wasn't reading book,or using patches what r you doing? cold turkey?!!! he said he bought e-cigs....... So my mother intincts kicked in and let him know what I had discovered about them. He sure stopped me in my tracks quick!!! MOM!!!! Please don't preach to me!!!! la la la la la   I got a few more sentences in and left it at Love you,so proud of you.    Ok. so he chooses to do his quit in a different way, just like we all choose to do. No matter what it takes,I will keep preaching to my boy and i'll keep my quit to proove I can do this... Maybe he will listen to me,read his book! And pass it along to his buddies.... I'm very proud of myself and I'm proud of all the people putting these butt's where they belong,In the trash, the bottom of the pit,All up in smoke.... God bless all!!! And thank you very ,very much.. My finger's are crossed that the little bit of preaching/teaching I got in last night stuck in his thick head.... :)))) Peace,Love Deborah.....

Congratulations on your quit, you are definitely doing everyone right. I am sure that you planted some seeds in your sons head and now it's up to him . congrats again.

I hope he can quit the ecig.  I don't believe it's any way to quit smoking.

Most people who use them cannot let them go.

I believe many were just too lazy to  unlearn the motions of smoking. With the same motions as smoking and still getting nicotine? To put it simply, it's smoking with a battery.

This is not judgement. This is common sense.

You don't unlearn driving a car by driving a tractor, it's too similar.

Look at Thomas's blog for the two most recent links.

The people who use them all bought into the harm reduction" message delivered by the manufacturers and the vaping boards.  were just addicts looking for a less harmful way to smoke or using it where cigarettes were not allowed.

Now we have a huge number (millions) of pre teens using them are now our newest nicotine addicts because they were pushed at them on TV 100+ kid oriented flavors. Unregulated for the past 10 years.

Here's the most recent link Thomas posted.

I hear ya!!! I tried the e-cig when they first started coming out and I found that it made me choke so bad and sometimes I got liquid in my mouth!!! it tasted like shi-! Further more I had to keep charging the batteries and when I really needed a puff it didn'rt work. I also have a friend that has smoked for over 50 yrs and quit with e-cig. She is still puffing away on that big old thing, which must be at least 3 yrs now. I also noticed that her face seemed to turn a yellowish color..seriously!!!!  She walks around with the big one-cuzz she says it holds more nicotine!!!! YUCK. So I also have read up on these e-cigs and wouldn't recommend them especially to my only child! But I gave my son the impression that smoking was good!!! I'm a dumb asss!!! He never liked cigarette's until he went into the service. Then oh boy he got a taste of them and the booze also. he has mastered to control the beer, but not the nastie's.  I'm just hoping that he follows my footsteps now and not my past. I will keep preaching and teaching and setting a new example for him to follow. Thank you all for your undivided help.

Congratulations...glad that you are holding fast with your quit and you are absolutely right that the e-cig is bad news but hopefully, it is a very temporary thing for him. My son in law used it and then came to the conclusion that it was really not helping and it was expensive so he stopped using it...unfortunately, he went back to smoking but hopefully the seed is planted, my daughter is using the patch and as far as I know, she is doing alright.  I have suggested the site and the book and she has read some blogs.  I hope she can stay quit, even if it isn't EASIER in your 40's, the damage that might be avoided is HUGE.

The help is here for you...I am so glad you are doing so well.

Congrats to you! All you can do is continue to be the great example of a true quit....in my opinion. You can only control your quit - but I think sharing the book and leading by example is great!

I`ve been quit now for 68 days and the one thing that`s different this time is that I quit for good.  The last few attempts I heard all kinds of crap like , How long you goona last this time, or he`s tried this many times and never stops for very long.                                Well, I`ve learned that in today`s world, people are going to say things whether we do good or bad.  And really, who gives a shit what others think anyway.  We are all doing a good job in our quits whether it`s been 1 day or 10 years.  We still encourage one another and help in anyway we can to keep the addiction out of our lives.                         You are doing a wonderful job Deborah and I`m proud of you.  No matter who says what, in your heart you know you`re bettering yourself and living more healthy.  That is a Blessing.       Take Care and Congratulations.   Carry on.

Hey look at YOU!!!! I am so glad that you are strong. Also glad that your kid isn't like mine: If I preach it, they disregard it 🙂

I love the idea of sharing the book.
