not feeling well

My last cigarette was almost 4 days ago and I have noticed that I am really not feeling very well. I'm kind of queasy and my chest feels heavy  ( as does my upper back~ lungs) but I have no cough. Not even my daily smokers cough that I had before I quit. The symptoms were there yesterday but much stronger this morning. Normal? Familiar?

i think its normal but maybe you should get a breath test?

I'm with Jonesy...pretty much normal because your body is healing & that causes discomfort in itself. But if you have concerns certainly see your doctor.

I really don't think you're hurting yourself by having quit smoking though, get checked out if you need to but don't think smoking is going to help.

Hang in there,

Hi Lynn, there are still alot of crummy viruses going around and you might have gotten one. But it could also be your body healing as the others said. Try taking DEEP breaths. That was something I stopped doing after I quit without even realizing it! Also try drinking lots of juice, resting when you can and taking extra Vitamin C to boost your immunities. Smoking deletes C. If you don't feel better, you could make a make an MD appointment.

I thought I had the flu or something during that first week....very odd stuff going on. My lungs felt very strange - like they were filling up in a totally new and different way!!  I would give it a little time and then go to the doctor if you don't feel better - or get worse. Take care! Congrats on 4 days!!! (Oh - I also did the vit. C thing Laurie mentioned. And - lots of water!!)

I had a plethoria of symptoms of this ,that and the other during my first few weeks. Remember that your body is in detox mode and you are healing.Cran-pomegranate juice is a wonderful drink in addition to lots of water.

Sounds normal to me, the first week is rough.  See a doctor if you are overly concerned tho.   Shirley
