Description

 54 Yo. smoked a pack a day from 16 to 51 1/2. 

feb 12, 2011 at 10:30 pm I smoked my last cig.

I'd tried all the quit aids through the years. drops,gum,hypnosis,e-cigs,patches, you name it I've tried it . but I never could stick to a quit because I guess i just wasnt really ready. I enjoyed it. And I was afraid of the weight gain.I was TRYING to quit because i knew I had to, but I really didn't want to. and I failed every quit. I dropped cigs no problem while i was pregnant both times. but eased back in to it afterwards.It wasn't until I started getting that cough that wouldn't go away. and everytime I tried to smoke I'd choke. I didn't enjoy smoking anymore. That scared me! I'd reached the point of NO MORE! But the thought of going through withdrawals scared me too.  So I had a talk with God. I made a promise to God that I would not ever take another puff off a cigarette for as long as I lived.But I would need his help to stick to that promise. And with his help I did it. cold turkey!  I will not break that direct promise to God. N.O.P.E. thats me. I am a non smoker. Period! not to say I don't have my moments when I really want one,even now, Its just that promise. I will not break that promise. ever. That worked for me.And still does. That and  peppermints. Inhaling peppermint after i bite it , gives me the same sensation as inhaling menthol smoke. it helped a great deal during that first year.... decaf coffee, drinking that on break took the place of going out for a cig very nicely. Now doc says no more caffiene. so now its caffiene free herbal tea instead of coffee.......Lots and lots of water. You wont catch me without my water bottle anymore........and of course the gym. working out helped me alot.......but most of all I think it's really in the mind set. You just have to have the right mindset to have a successful quit.
