I put on a patch and have made it my first 24 hours without a smoke.I was so tired, slepy and and am wondring if this is part of the detox?I have wanted to smoke about 1 time today that is it.I am blown out of the water by this is it beginners luck?.Maybe I have realized that the surgery is more inportant than my smoking?I am not sure.I am hopeing for a good night as I can't sleep at night and that is my day time. One day at a time or minute what ever come first.I am so happy not that I may not slip but just 24 hours is a great thing for me.Meeting my fear head on.24 hours A X  Marijean

Congratulations on the first 24 hrs which in my opinion can be the hardest part of the quit.  Those 24 hrs quickly turn into 48 and in 72 hrs the nicotine is normally released from your system but you are using the patch and that is a little different.  There is no luck associated with quitting. It is your willingness to go the distance and educate yourself about nicotine addiction and not smoking no matter what happens in your life. So Welcome to Ex Welcome to Ex

You have come to the right place if you are making the decision to commit to quit smoking.  At EX our resolve is to never smoke again.  NOPE “Not one puff ever.”  I suggest that you follow the steps on the web site pages along with reading, writing, studying, researching and blogging if you like.

This is all about you and what you are willing to do to be a nonsmoker.  If you haven’t read it or have not been informed here is a link to Allen Carr’s book, “Easy Way to Quit Smoking”.  It is an easy read suggested by the “elders” (those with 1+ yrs. quit).

Also check out www.whyquit.com.  There is a lot of additional beneficial information to read and study.  Look for Freedom From Nicotine My Journey Home and Nicotine Addiction 101.

Both were extremely helpful for me.  Stay close to the site and learn, ask questions. Education is the key to success even in quitting smoking. Read the blogs and most of all enjoy your commitment to quit smoking.

If you should need something to do here are two links that will help
