day 7

well, I made it 7 days...the cravings aren't as bad.  Patch falls off when I do heavy-duty cleaning (to keep busy).  I eat when I'm hungry and sleep when I'm tired.  I have been completely avoiding all places and people assosciated with cigarettes.  I swear if there was one in front of me, I would probably smoke it.  I hope that feeling fades with time.

That is NOT a good mindset to have to be successful.  Try this: " Well, I see you cigarette, and I am going to turn my back on you because, well, I don't DO that anymore!!!"  And then you will turn your back and do something to distract yourself.  Go for a walk, play a computer game - imagine that the cigarette had a skull and crossbones on it (because well, it SHOULD!)

7 Days is AWESOME.  Work on that quititude a bit and you GOT this!

Seven days is great !  Keep up the good work.  It is going to get better.  I have my random craves but sometimes I am surprized at how long I haven't even thought about smoking.  There are good days and not as good days as far as cravings go.  I just try to keep in mind that I don't want to loose the days that I have put in so far and I also don't want to look at the faces of my family if I should start smoking again.

ret 30 days and counting.

Hi Karen.  This is exactly how I quit and I'm going on 800 days.  I stayed away from people and places that had anything to do with cigarettes for two weeks and I 'thought' if one were in front of me I would smoke it.  I don't believe I actuallyw ould have though.  I came to this site a lot in the beginning.  I blogged constantly about cravings and how to deal with life without cigarettes.  This site is amazing.  Make this, or something as solid your anchor and use it daily or several times a day to aid your quit.  You are doing great.  Protect Your Quit.  Read Read Read.

Congrats on 7 days! Sometimes, around here we say - fake it, 'till you make it! I think it helps a lot! So, even if you think you would smoke one if you saw one - don't say it, or write it - just using positive thoughts and language - even if you aren't totally buying it yet - can eventually sink in!

Congrats again!
