day #2 i am not a smoker after 40 years

Day #2  in the life of a non-smoker    I FEEL PRETTY GOOD

Went to bed at 7:30 pm last night, this really helps kill some of the withdraw stuff (CHANTIX)

And the real meaning or reason for this = to break up my habits

This is a topic I have spent a good deal of time on

Part of the exercise is to track when you smoke and what sets you off

I loved to smoke in the mornings, 4 cigs before I go to work

And one when I got there, so I figure I would try going to sleep

As soon as I could, have my stuff ready and get out the door ASAP

In the morning, get to work where very few smoke. On the job at 5:00 am !!!

Also took 4 walks yesterday and that seemed to help a lot

Will do the same today

Sounds to me like you've got this under control!!  Keep using your tools.  They are working.  If they don't, try something else.  Whatever it takes to get past the first few days then the craves will become nothing but old memories you learn to deal with.  Keep up the commitment.  You're doing great!!

Yes! I'm totally cheering right now! Break up the old patterns, arrange the new pieces you've collected, shake it down, mix it up! EXCELLENT work, Mr. Cameron!

I'm a BIG fan of walking. I was a chain-smoker (6-8+) in the morning, but now I walk. It's saving my life. I'm so glad to see you using this technique/modification in your quit, regardless of the time of day.

You are definitely tackling this with ACTIONS, and that'll make you a winner. Keep on doin' what you're doin'!

Congrats jcameron!!!  I still do the same thing when I start thinking too much about a sickarette.  Walking and deep breaths helps.  Remember one hour/day at a time.

Yes, distract, distract, distract!! Going for walks is a great trigger breaker.  Keep the hands busy and say out loud, "I DON'T DO THAT ANYMORE!" Breathe in the air from your freezer. Bite a lemon, rind and all!! DISTRACT!! Change your MINDSET to that of a non smoker!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Don't forget the slow, deep breaths if you are in a situation where you can't go for a walk.  Changing it up to break the associations is the RIGHT thing to do!

Congratulations on your decision to quit and your great planning!  You will go far with it!

i am doin the deep breaths - its amazing to me that i can now do this without the cough afterwards - 2 days and what a payoff

I love your Quititude, congrats on your decision to quit.. Your coughing already stopped, just wait and see how much better you will feel every week..Its an amazing recovery anf healing process.  

One thing I've learned is not to fight your quit, but rather relax and enjoy it,enjoy every hour, every day that you beat the addiction.And be proud of your decision

This makes me so happy for you. I am a non-smoker of 3 days now. Hearing what you do is also helping me to continue my journey. I am a young 33, but with smoking since I was 15 this is almost the hardest thing I have done. 

The hardest about it is not just that it is a habit, but the actual mental addition that I never realized was there until I quit on Tuesday. I found that typing helps ALOT with the "keeping the hands busy" during most of the day. Today, I am feeling the start of the withdrawals. The belly aches and the overly tired feeling. 
 

I will pray that we can keep our mind remembering the reason for our quit. I found that asking myself, "why did I do this?"  that it seems to help remind me the beauty that I am feeling now. Helps to offset a lot of my cravings and antsiness.

Quitting is so empowering and the freedom gained is amazing!

This is a journey, one in which you will discover so many things about yourself, keep moving forward, friend! You're doing GREAT!

I too was a 40 year smoker and today I celebrate 185 days of freedom! Cameron, this is doable and the reward is awesome.
