Hi Margaret, welcome aboard!  Congrats on your upcoming quit date!  There's no rule about how much you should be smoking right now, it's certainly helpful that you've learned to delay and separate from your triggers. You've already taught yourself that the world won't end if you don't smoke, so you're well on your way!

Have you done the readings? There are a few resources that many of our members have used to help them view this addiction in a new way. The better you understand it, the better equipped you will be to defeat it!

The 10-lesson course at:

The free book you can download at:

Margaret,

If you have reduced your smoking THAT much, quitting should be a walk in the park!  Congratulations on your decision to quit, and your success so far in cutting down!

Do all the reading suggested.  The more you understand about nicotine and the quitting process, the more likely you are to be successful.

As I approached my quit date, a friend shared this quote which I found very helpful (by Henry Ford):  "If you think you can or think you can't, you are right."

You CAN!  We here on the site can help!  Ask for advice and support whenever you need it.

Margaret.......I'm 60......smoked for 40 years.......2 packs a day......I'm 106  days smoke free now.....you're doing exactly what I did......I cut down to 6, then 5, then 4,....on the last day, I think it was 3........I was scared to death, but looking back now I don't know why......I feel better than I have in years.......it's not the easiest thing, but it's also not the hardest thing I ever did....if you read Allen Carr's book and stay close to this site, you'll be smoke freefree too. I didn't MAGICALLY become a satisfied non smoker overnight like Allen Carr says people can do, but I know I will never, ever smoke another cigarette. good luck to you and keep us up to date on your progress through this site. it's kind of fun on this site.
