coffee trigger

I would love to know how people that had drinking coffee as a cigarette trigger dealt with overcoming the urge to smoke.  Should I stop drinking coffee all together, drink it cold, or black, or super light?  I'm thinking ahead and want to feel empowered so I conquer the smoking habit.
