I started smoking a really long time ago. Of course it was casual for a long time and then it became more habit. I smoked a lot while partying but I really enjoyed smoking at other times too - in the morning more so than later in the day. After realizing the chemicals in regular cigarettes I switched to smoking all natural tobacco with flax seed papers. I rolled them myself and there were no additives or anything in the cigarette except tobacco leaf. I felt better about smoking them because I didn't get headaches and it was a pretty different feeling in comparison to regular cigarettes. I tried to quit so many times - once for 2 years but I let stress tell me to begin smoking again. Sometimes I stopped my quits for stress but most of the time it was because I got bored.
This time I am using NRT which I've never done before and it's my longest quit in a long time so I think that has helped. I know I don't want to smoke anymore. Already I can see lots of physical and mental benefits but sometimes it tricks me into thinking I do, so it's still pretty tough. I have given up alcohol in tandem because that would be the time where I would relapse. I didn't really drink often so that's not really such a big deal but sometimes I feel bored again! I am taking it as a message to do more exciting things. I don't like to say never so I am doing this for now, for today. That seems more comforting to me.
Good luck to all. Let's be thankful for all that we have!
