Description

I am 58 and my mother made me start smoking when I was 13.  (I was a very badly abused as a child by my mother.  She really messed me up and I still take medicine and see doctors.  I have attempted suicide several times)..  My wife and I are both trying to quit.  We are both disabled and can not work again.  I have 6 degrees and have worked as a public school teacher, college instructor, law enforcement, had my own photography studio, repaired and maintained computers and did computer programming.  I may not get out of the wheelchair but I can not complain, God has let me have a full and exciting life.  God is important in my life, and during the summer while I was in college I preached at a mission on Surfside beach.

We live on a small fixed income, and do without a lot of things; like food and medicine near the end of the month.  I am recovering from a broken hip and face back surgery, and I have a lot of other health problems, and so does Amy, my wife.  Amy can not take Chantix but the doctor ordered her some, and he ordered me some.  Mine cost 80 dollars and hers only cost 3 dollars.  We picked up hers and I am taking it.

All day long I ask God to help me say no to smoking.

I really do not have any hobbies, but I want to at least get back into photography just for my own fun.  I also have some church members and good neighbors come over and I teach them about their computer.  But for the most part, my wife and I are alone, and get very bored (this is when I want to smoke the most).

We do have a neighbor that we call the gangsters.  They are felons, have stolen prescriptions from our apartment (including a band new bottle of Valium).  Sherry even stole Amy's prescription glasses Sunday morning, but we got them back when I told them I was going call the police and file a report.

I come to this site to get support and ideas on stopping smoking, and I hope to make some new friends (healthy friends, not gangsters).

I am an open person.  If you still have a question, just ask me and I will give you the answer.  Anyone can write me at:    stallingsmark@gmail.com

I am looking forward where I am strong enough that I can give support.  Even now I say prayers for everyone.

Tonsillitis in the 60’s , Broke the right arm two years in a row – 60’s

Multiple burn wounds with a cigarette -  50’s & 60’s  (part of the child abuse)  Knee surgery on both knees in the 70’s (torn menisci), and where my mother hit them and chipped them.

Gall bladder surgery in the 80’s 5 back surgeries, the last 3 years ago (5 herniated disc) A blood transfusion when I was a baby (I was a blue baby), and during hip surgery.  Left hip dislocation (to many to count over 100)  In 2009  Left hip, total hip replacement (April of 2009) and something else to the hip.

COPD, High Blood Pressure, bipolar, acute panic and anxiety disorder, PTSD (from childhood abuse), DID (dissociate identity disorder), fibromyalgia, acute claustrophobia, gastritis, separation anxiety, sleep apnea.

You may very well see my alter, Bear.  He is my protector, and comes out if I am threatened.  When I have dealings with my mother, Sally may come out, and I just can not predict when she is coming out.  And "the dark one" comes out when I am depressed and tries to talk me into comitting suicide.  Bear and Sally, and even Amy fight him.

I HAVE to quit smoking.  I have 4 herniated disc, and the disc that were fused a few years ago are no longer fused, and the screws are all loose.  The back surgeon will not do the surgery if I am smoking.

I don't know what else to say, and may have said too much.

Thank you.  Mark
