Goodbye Cigarettes

Oh what a crutch you have been for my high anxiety...however...such a temporary bandage that not only increased my anxiety by giving me yet something else to worry about when I didn't have you. So sad...that you had to fool my mind by creating a physical

Obstacle Course

I'm borrowing this from a journal post from SoberMummy out there on the internet. It's talking about relapsing on your drug of choice over and over and over. It's related to the changes in the dopamine receptors in your brain when you stop using. Maybe th

Concert

I went to a concert last night. Normally that would mean an evening at the symphony, a jazz combo, a Celtic session, etc -- acoustic, and generally a smaller space is my preference. But last night I found myself in the middle of a venue downtown for a roc

Goodbye Enemy

You started off as my friend. I bought my first pack of cigarettes at 18 because I was a goody-two-shoes kid who stuck to the rules, but wanted to be edgy just for once. I took a drag and coughed. I didn’t like it. We were just acquaintances then, just ge

Uncertain - rambling thoughts

I honestly do not know when I quit smoking, I believe it was around 5/8/2024 so about 20 days ago. I'm not even sure why I quit or didn't buy another pack. Of course, I've always wanted to quit and truly understand how bad they are for your health. I use

Sticking with Nope works when applied on a daily basis! 👍

In order to live our lives free from the clutches of the horrid nicotine poison THEN WE MUST keep our quits in ~ TACT ~ which means ~ N.O.P.E ~ Not One Puff Ever  ~ N.M.W ~ No Matter What! It's definitely NOT easy by any stretch of the imagination at time

Blink the day away

They say that if you blink the day is pretty much gone. That doesn't mean we give up! No --- even if there is a slight chance of a craving or two --- don't give in. Ride the craving and let it flow or float away on its own. It took a long time to understa

Considering everything that's happened the past 40 years, I'm surprised I'm still here.

Mark (my identical twin) and I turn 75 this Friday.

My health has been horrible during and after the spine infection and the nursing homes. So weak I couldn't walk to the mai

counting & reflecting

Important to reflect today. Yesterday I looked ahead to today and mentally broke down the amount of time since my last cigarette. Today I am 140 days, or 20 weeks, or 5 months; as I broke it down by bits it felt increasingly longer in my mind. Even though

Looking for things to help the craving!

I have been smoke free for almost 6 weeks. It’s been really tough.  I am using Wellbutrin and it seems to be working.  I also have been chewing on gummy bears and sucking on blo- pops.  Works great, especially the gummy bears!   Problem is the calories!!!
