Hi Donna. You can do this!! The first thing I did when I got back to this site, is looked at what I DIDN'T do when I quit before. What I didn't do, back in 2010, was read the information. So I made sure to read it this time. And this time, instead of struggling and fighting through craves 99% of the time... after the first few days I was able to be happy and content not smoking. Not every minute or every day, but wwwaaayyy more than the 1% of last time. My point?  The reading really helped my attitude and my quit. If we learn from our mistakes and try to do better, than there's no reason to feel discouraged.

Congratulations on your decision to quit!!! Feel good about your choice to NOT SMOKE and start living free again.

Welcome Back 🙂 You wouldn't be here if you didn't want the freedom that comes with being a non-smoker. Make this your time---I think you're ready, don't you?

Hey Donna! Did you ever figure out what kept tripping you up? It looks like the alcohol has to go for awhile too...let me know if I can help you...and freshen up your reading! xoxo

The most IMPORTANT thing you can do for your quit now is to educate yourself about the addiction and the mind games it plays on us....READ,READ,READ for a successful quit...the more you read, the EASIER it is...

CHOOSE to quit smoking, not TRY. Educate yourself by reading these links to the materials that most of us have used to help us quit and STAY quit! This is about making a DECISION to never put another cigarette in your mouth, mean it, and be committed to follow through on that decision. Also allow NO excuses AND hang in there for as long as it takes, no matter how uncomfortable you become.... This is about re-learning your life WITHOUT cigarettes....start changing your "normal" routine....because a smoker's routine revolves around cigarettes. You will be a nonsmoker so change how you start your morning so it doesn't revolve around cigarette breaks, etc. You CAN do this! ....http://digg.com/newsbar/topnews/Allen_Carr_s_Easy_Way_To_Stop_Smoking_Download_free_PDF

i'm not getting this.

if you are still drinking, you probably aren't going to be able to quit smoking

the inhibitions go and the smoking continues.

we can't change your actions

can you make the changes necessary to quit or not?

Hi Donna, Glad you are back.  Dale is right you have to make some changes for a lasting quit.  Drinking seems to be a trigger so it will needs to go for awhile.  We will be here to help and support you but only you can control your quit. Do the reading Nancy suggested and stay close to EX.

Welcome to Ex! You have come to the right place for support.

Keep coming back--read (blogs and info pages), write a blog (doesn't have to be long) so people can get to know you and you us.

One day at a time, you can find your quit and keep it.
