Yuck

I was absolutely horrified last night. I went out for a friends birthday to a bar to see an 80s band. Everyone I was with were all smokers. I told my friend I was not drinking tonight and to not pressure me to drink because  I do not want to risk my quit. Besides being left by myself a lot because they had to smoke, I had a great time. I was proud to be the table holder and purse watcher while they smoked.  The horrifying part was when I was leaving, I went out to the smoker section to say goodbye. Oh My Gawd it smelled horrible! I was literally in there for 30 seconds. I reeked of cigarette smoke! Driving home, between gagging, I was smiling and so happy I don't smoke. I don't ever want to smoke again and I think this is my forever quit; I hope. The best part is, I only spent 10 dollars, I'm not hungover and I don't feel like crap from smoking too much even though I didn't fall asleep until about 3 and had to be up early to cut hair.

2 months, 20 days smoke free. YAY ME

It's a real shock, ain't it, when our nose wakes up to the stench of cigarettes.  I keep wondering how my husband kissed me with tobacco mouth.  I remember playing Calpurnia in  Julius Caesar and after the intermission Brutus would come on REEKING of cigarette breath .  When you're on stage you're projecting your sound forcefully outward and the stench of that cigarettte would spew forth from his mouth every night.  He smelled like he had eaten a wet cigarette.  Of course it never occurred to me that I might smell the same way!

You did absolutely everything right last night.  Keep that up and you'll be free for life!

Sometimes it's tough to keep your quit as your #1 priority.  You not only succeeded, but you learned some lessons about partying too hardy and the results the next day!

You are growing, my dear, and in a GOOD way!

I am proud of you!

You did great, Kristen! Both of my daughters smoke, and over Thanksgiving I found that I wouldn't even go out with them if they went to smoke outdoors because I really can't stand the smell anymore.  My nose has definitely awakened.  I'm fortunate that I live by myself and there isn't a whiff of smoke anywhere.  Even my car is now completely smoke-free.  As long as you keep your quit a number 1 priority just like you did last night, this WILL be your forever quit!

Only when we quit do see smoking for what it is, a nasty, disgusting habit.

Hey Kristen I am very proud of you.  Your blog indicates that you are growing with your quit.  Congratulations on meeting the challenge of being with smokers.  It is eye opening the things we use to do in retrospect.  Continue on and there will be a day you will say with confidence that this is your forever quit no hope just a fact because you know it and believe it. Kudos to you....A+
