You've got to Take a Hard Line

Want to succeed at quitting?

You can't smoke at all, not even one puff.

Before people call me a hard ass, here's why.

Because if you take one drag, and see that as justified,

the next time it's two drags, and so on, and so on,

and the next thing you know, you are smoking again.

The only way to stop smoking is to slam the door and never open it again, not even a crack.

I agree. I can't take so much as one puff or it is over.  That is how I have screwed up my quit in the past.  Then comes the worse part which is reliving the withdrawal when I decide to quit again.  It is like a horrible ride I can't get off. Better for me to just never get back on the smoking ride.

N.O.P.E. is the only way for me to stay free.

i have been quit for four years, the only way i could and still protect my quit is to not ever put one to my lips, i know that if i would, i will have lost the fight, and i do not ever want to go through that again, so i would never take a puff, !

This is so true.....I have learned to be very protective of my quit this time so I don't relapse as I did in the past.  No smoking is allowed in my home...don't care who you are or what your relation to me is....there's the backyard or the front patio and bring your own ashtray as all ashtrays have been thrown out.

I quit smoking on March 26th, 2009. I smoked a pack a day for 25 years. I quit because I began having health issues in my early 40's. I had a TIA and a stroke a few years ago. I work as a home delivery salesperson.
